16 Troubleshooting
16.1 Correcting faults on the wet/dry vacuum cleaner
Fault
The wet/dry vacuum
cleaner does not start
when switched on.
The wet/dry vacuum
cleaner switches off while
in operation.
Dust is escaping from the
wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
The suction power is too
low.

Cause
The plug on the connecting cord is not plugged
in.
The fuse of the building service connection or
the earth-leakage circuit breaker has tripped.
The container is full. The float switch has
operated.
The float switch has operated.
The plug of the connecting cord has been
pulled out of the socket.
The fuse of the building service connection or
the earth-leakage circuit breaker has tripped.
The fuse rating of the socket is too low.
The container is full. The float switch has
operated.
The cooling air filter is dirty. The wet/dry
vacuum cleaner is too warm.
The filter is damaged.
The suction power is set too low.
The filter bag or the container is full.
The filter is dirty.
The suction hose, the hand tube or the
accessory is blocked up.
The seal between the top part and the container
is dirty or damaged.
Remedy
► Plug in the plug of the connecting cord.
► Replace fuse of the building service
connection or earth-leakage circuit breaker.
► Empty the container.
► Check the float.
► Plug in the plug of the connecting cord.
► Replace fuse of the building service
connection or earth-leakage circuit breaker.
► Plug the connecting cord into a socket with
the correct fuse rating, @ 17.1.
► Empty the container.
► Clean or replace the cooling air filter.
► Allow the wet/dry vacuum cleaner to cool for
5 minutes.
► Replace the filter.
► Set the suction power.
► Replace filter bag or empty the container.
► Switch on automatic filter cleaning.
► Clean or replace the filter.
► Clean the suction hose, hand tube or
accessory.
► Clean seal between top part and container or
ask a STIHL authorized dealer to replace it.
