Battery Installation
1. This scale operates on 2 "AAA" batteries (included). Remove
any plastic wrap from the batteries before proceeding. Always
replace all batteries at the same time; do not combine old and
new batteries. Do not mix alkaline standard (carbon-zinc) or
rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
2. Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the scale.
3. Place the batteries into the battery compartment as indicated
by the polarity symbols marked in the compartment.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover.
5. Replace the batteries if "Lo" appears on the display,
or the readings grow dim or irregular.
General Weighing Operation
1. Place the scale on a hard, level surface.
2. Press the "ON/TARE/OFF" button to turn the scale on. The display
first shows "88888", then zero when it is ready for use. If the
display does not show zero, press the "ON/TARE/OFF" button to
reset (tare) the scale to zero.
3. Your scale is set at the factory to weigh in pounds/ounces. To
switch to grams, press the "UNIT" button.
4. Place the item to be weighed on the center of the platform. The
weight will display. As you add weight, the weight displayed
increases.
5. The scale will turn off automatically after 3 minutes if there is
no change in weight, or after one minute when the weight is
removed. Press "ON/TARE/OFF" to turn the scale off manually.
Tare Operation
You may wish to weigh ingredients in a bowl or other container
(not included). In this case, you will need to tare, or offset,
the weight of the bowl so that only the weight of the
ingredients is displayed.
1. Choose a container that will safely balance on the platform
without tipping or falling. Do not use a heavy container, as this
might reduce the maximum capacity of the scale.
