Raise the forks slightly to take the weight of the
load and check its stability. Then raise the forks
a little further to detach the load from the stack.
Tilt the mast backwards for maximum load
stability.
Check that the vicinity is clear, then slowly move
the truck away from the stack, and slowly lower
the load to the transport position.
Complete the operation by tilting the mast fully
back and check that the vicinity is clear before
driving away with the load.
&CAUTION
When driving a forklift truck with the load hand-
ling devices raised (with or without a load), the
brakes and steering wheel must be operated
very delicately and with great care.
&WARNING
When the load is in the raised position, do not
tilt the mast forward.
5.4.4 Carrying loads

Never travel with the load raised higher than

5 SAFE OPERATION
Keep the load against the backrest, with the
mast tilted fully backward. Never lift or lower
loads with the forklift truck in motion.
If the front view is obstructed by an extra wide
load, travel in reverse for better vision. Better
still, have someone guide you and make sure
that the way is clear.
Watch your side clearance, especially with wide
loads. Where possible, travel in the center of the
aisle to avoid endangering pedestrians or
equipment.
&CAUTION
Avoid quick starts, acceleration, stops, or turns
that could shift the load or overturn the forklift
truck.
