Be sure to take following procedure every time
when leaving the truck unattended, even in a
short time, to help keep the truck from rolling
and to avoid trip hazards:
• Put the controls in neutral
• Set the parking brake and make sure it
works properly
• Lower the forks or attachments onto the
floor or ground
• Turn the key switch off and remove the key
• Chock wheels if there is any question about
the truck moving
When parking a LPG or CNG powered truck
overnight, close the LPG tank outflow valve or
CNG service valve and wait until the engine
stops in the idle state before turning off the key
switch. Park a LPG or CNG powered truck only
in well ventilated area.
Don't park with loads in the air. Even well
maintained hydraulic systems can change
position over time and cause a load to drop.
&CAUTION
Do not park the truck on a ramp or inclined sur-
face. Always park on level ground with forks flat
on the floor so that no one will run into them. If
parking on a slope is unavoidable, place blocks
behind the wheel to prevent the forklift from
rolling.
&CAUTION
Do not attempt to stop on a slope or incline by
working the accelerator pedal with the unit in
gear.
5 SAFE OPERATION
&CAUTION
If the forklift is disabled, and the forks cannot be
lowered to the floor, follow proper lockout/tagout
procedures. Do not allow anyone to stand or
pass under the forks.
5.6 At the end of the work
Check the condition of the forklift truck after the
day's work or shift. Report any damage,
malfunction or unsafe condition to a supervisor
or the Service Centre immediately.
5.6.1 Cleaning the truck
At the end of the work everyday, clean the
forklift before inspection and maintenance.
Cleaning the forklift helps find malfunctioning
part in the early stage. Remove dirt and dust
from the forklift thoroughly and check the forklift
for abnormality to be prepared for the next day.
Particularly, remove pieces of paper and cloth
around the exhaust pipe and muffler and in the
engine compartment, as well as clogging of the
radiator fins, if any (IC truck).
If the forklift was exposed to salt water, snow
melting agent such as chloride calcium or
oxidation solution and left as it was, electric
parts including the motor may fail and corrosion
may progress. Be sure to remove such things
after the work is over.
