Subsequently dry with oil- and water-free
air, and pre-treat the surface using a suitable
silanizing agent (e.g. DMG Silane) in accor-
dance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Metals and metal alloys: Pretreatment in
accordance
with
instructions. Unless otherwise stated, sand-
blast the inside of the restoration with alu-
minum oxide, clean with alcohol and dry
with oil- and water-free air.
Oxide ceramics: Pretreatment in accor-
dance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Ensure that there is sufficient parallel-wall
retention.
2. Remove any residue of the temporary
cement from the prepared tooth, clean thor-
oughly with water spray and dry with oil- and
water-free air. When doing so, ensure that
the dentin retains a little residual moisture
and does not become overly dry.
Note: The use of rubber dam is recommended.

3. Apply a suitable bonding agent to the pre-
pared tooth according to manufacturer's
instructions. DMG recommends LuxaBond
(total etch system) or Contax + Activator
(self-etch system).
4. Apply PermaCem in the pre-treated restora-
tion or on the prepared tooth .
5. Insert the restoration within 2:00 min of the
start of mixing and attach it to the prepared
tooth using slight pressure.
6. Instruct the patient to adopt habitual occlu-
sion.
7. Remove excess cement within 1:30 to 2:00
min of inserting the restoration with the aid
of a microbrush, brush, foam pellet or scaler.
Remove interdental excess by flossing care-
fully.
8. Leave material to cure. After 5:00 minutes,
the restoration has fully regained its capaci-
ty to withstand stress.
