2.g.1 MANUAL _ STARTING
• To start the generator,put the on/off switch in the ONposition.
• Firmly grasp the recoil handle and pull slowly until increased
resistance is felt. Pull rapidly up and away to start engine.
• When the engine starts, push choke knob to "1/2 Choke"
position until the engine runs smoothly and then fully in to the
"Run" position. If engine falters, pull choke knob back out to
"1/2 Choke" position until the engine runs smoothly and then
to "Run" position.
NOTE:
If engine fires, but does not continueto run, pull choke knob
to "Full Choke" and repeat starting instructions.
2.9.2 ELECTRIC STARtiNG(XGTOOOE & XGSOOOE)__
* Tostart the engine,press and hold the Start/Run/Stopswitch in
the "Start" position. The enginewill crank and attempt to start.
Whenthe enginestarts, releasethe switch to the run position.
* When the engine starts, push choke knob to "1/2 Choke"
position until the engine runs smoothly and then fully in to the
"Run" position. If engine falters, pull choke knob back out to
"1/2 Choke" position until the engine runs smoothly and then
to "Run" position.
* This generator is also equipped with a manual recoil starter
which may be usedif the battery is discharged.
NOTE:
The switchmust be in the RUN position.Use one of the
generator's receptacleoutletsalongwith the includedbattery
chargerto chargethe battery while the generator is running.
2.10 STOPPING THEENGINE
* Shut off all loads, then unplug the electrical loads from
generatorpanel receptacles.Neverstart or stop the enginewith
electricaldevices plugged in and turned on.
* Let engine run at no-load for several minutes to stabilize the
internaltemperaturesof engine and generator.
* Move Start/Run/Stopor On/Offswitch to the "Off" position.
* Close fuel valve.
2.11LOW OILPBESSUBE SHUTDOWN SYSTEM
The engine is equippedwith a low oil pressure sensor that shuts
down the engine automaticallywhen the oil pressure drops below
5 psi. A delay built into the low oil shutdown system allows oil
pressure to build during starting. The delay allows the engine to
run for about 10 secondsbeforesensing oil pressure.If the engine
shuts down by itself and the fuel tank has enough gasoline,check
engine oil level.
2.1 I. 1RESTARTING
If trying to restartthe enginewithin 10 seconds after it shuts down,
the enginemay NOTstart. The system needs5 to 10 secondsto
reset.
If the engine is restarted after such a shutdown and the low oil
pressure has not been corrected, the engine will run for about 10
seconds as describedabove and then stop.
2.12 CHABGING THEBATTEBY (XG7OOOE &XGBOOOE)
,_Do not permit smoking, open flame, sparks
or any other source of heat around a battery.
Wear protective goggles, rubber apron and
rubber gloves when working around a battery.
Battery electrolyte fluid is an extremely
corrosive sulfuric acid solution that can cause
severe burns, if spill occurs flush area with
clear water immediately.
Storage batteries give off explosive hydrogen
gas while recharging. An explosive mixture will
remain around the battery for a long time after
it has been charged. The slightest spark can
ignite the hydrogen and cause an explosion.
Such an explosion can shatter the battery and
cause blindness or other serious injury.
