Base plate incl. screws and plugs and two-sided
adhesive tape.
The double-sided adhesive tape offers extremely
strong adhesion that attaches to most surfaces.
Before fitting the base plate, clean surfaces
thoroughly and attach the tape at room tempera-
ture to obtain maximum grip. Press the tape firmly
against the base plate and then press the plate
and the smoke detector against the ceiling. About
50% of the tape's bond strength is achieved di-
rectly, while maximum adhesion takes 72 hours.
The tape cannot be reused or moved.
POSITIONING OF SMOKE DETECTOR
'Dead zone' with still air
If it cannot be mounted on the
ceiling, mount it on a wall
about 15 cm from the ceiling.
Bear in mind that wall moun-
ting may delay the activation
of the smoke alarm.
B
POSITIONING OF SMOKE DETECTOR
•
For maximum protection, a smoke detector
should be installed in every room, but not in
the kitchen, bathroom or garage (fig. B).
•
For maximum protection, one smoke de-
tector should be installed in every bedroom,
one near the kitchen and one on each floor
in the stairwell (applies to multi-storey dwel-
lings), (fig. B).
•
For minimal protection, one smoke detector
should be installed on each floor, in the
hallway between the bedrooms and the
other living areas. Position it as close to the
living areas as possible and make sure the
detector alarm can be clearly heard from the
bedrooms.
AVOID THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS
•
Smoke detectors should not be installed in
the vicinity of ventilation openings.
•
Avoid installing the smoke detector near
damp or temporarily damp areas such as a
shower, or in the immediate vicinity of a
kitchen, where water vapour may trigger a
false alarm.
•
Do not install the smoke detector too close
to a wall, corner or roof ridge (See fig. B for
suitable position).
•
Avoid installing the smoke detector closer
than 1.5 metres away from a strip light or
from electronics that may cause interfe-
rence.
