6 Insulation tests

a) Select the desired insulation test voltage 250V, 500V or
1000V.
b) Connect the test leads to the instrument and the circuit
under test.
 Warning! Before proceeding, ensure the live circuit warning
lamp is not lit and the buzzer does not sound. If the circuit is
live, do not continue the test
 Warning! Do not touch the circuit under test whilst the
insulation test is in progress.
 Warning! Warning! To ensure the circuit under test is fully
discharged after the test, always release the test button before
disconnecting the test leads from the circuit.
 Caution! Do not turn the test voltage range switch during
insulation testing while the test button is depressed, as this
may damage the instrument.
Press the test button and read the value on the red megaohm
scale directly for the 500V range, multiply by 0.5 for 250V and
by 2 for 1000V.
If required, whilst pressing the test button, press the meter
back light button to obtain illumination in dark or dimly
lit areas. Note: The back light will turn off when the test
button is released, but will turn on again if the test-button is
operated again within a few seconds of being released.

7 Continuity and resistance tests

 Warning! Before proceeding, ensure the live circuit warning
lamp is not lit and the buzzer does not sound. If the circuit is
live, do not continue the test.
a) Select the desired ohms range 2Ω (Ωx1) or 20 (Ωx10).
b) Short the test leads together, press the test button and
ensure the pointer moves from the oo position towards the
0 position on the green "Ohms" scale. If not, adjust the
ohms zero knob to set the pointer accurately to the 0 mark.
Release the test button.
c) Connect the test leads to the circuit to be tested and press
the test button. Read the Ω x 1 range directly or multiply
the reading by 10 for Ω x 10.
If required, whilst pressing the test button, press the meter
back light button to obtain illumination in dark or dimly
lit areas. Note: The back light will turn off when the test
button is released, but will turn on again if the test-button is
operated again within a few seconds of being released.
