Application
The Cillit Clear Filter 77 SN/N are to be used for
filtration of drinking and process water, to protect
water pipes and the connected fittings, equipment,
machinery, boilers and production facilities from
functional failures and corrosion damage caused
by foreign bodies such as rust particles, sand,
hemp, metal chips, etc.
The filters can also be used for the filtration of well
water, process water and cooling water in through-
flow cooling systems. Theymust not be used for
chemically treated recirculating water.
The filters are not suitable for oils, greases, solvents,
soaps and other lubricating media, nor for the
separation of substances soluble in water.
Caution: Installation of the filter must be carried
out by a qualified plumber in accordance with
the relevant national and local regulations and
specifications.
Function
In the filtration process, the untreated water flows
through the water inlet (see Figure 1) into the filter,
where it flows from the outside to the inside through
the filter cloth to the treated water outlet. Foreign
particles > 90 m are retained on the outside of the
filter cloth.

Preliminary installation
conditions
The relevant national and local standards,
specifications and guidelines and the technical data
of the equipment must be observed.
The installation point must be free of frost and
ensure that the filter is protected from chemicals of
all kinds, pigments and dyes, heating oil, lyes,
solvent vapours, sources of heat over 40 C and
direct sunlight.
Install the filters in pipework of the same nominal
connection diameter upstream from the objects to
be protected (see Figure 4 for installation diagram).
Always provide shutoff valves. The filters can be
installed in both horizontal and vertical pipelines.
Downstream hot water systems must be fitted with
a non-return device.
Avoid external pressure surges (e.g. surges
caused by solenoid valves, etc. downstream).
Installation
(Fig. 4 installation)
Installation is to be carried out in the following steps:
Caution: Keep plastic parts free of oil and
grease. Plastic parts must always be replaced,
even if there is no visible damage, after hard
impacts and knocks (e.g. with unsuitable tools,
dropping on stone floors, etc.). Otherwise there
is a danger they may burst.
1. Install connection piece (1) horizontally or vertically
in the cold water pipe in the direction of flow with
screw coupling (2). Observe the flow direction
arrow on the connection piece.
2. Insert the seal in the connecting flange of the filter
head (see Figure 3). Ensure that the seal is seated
centrally.
3. Screw the filter to the connecting piece (1) (four
fastening screws and washers supplied). Tighten
the screws evenly without undue stress.
