Detecting Live Wires
The AC or live wire detection feature can be set to work with metal
detection or alone. The AC icon will be displayed on the LCD when
the feature is activated. AC mode ONLY is activated- As the unit
approaches a wire, 5 bars will appear at a time (see illustration 6).
The more sets of bars that appear, the closer the unit is to a source
of AC. Depth readings do not apply in AC mode. When a live wire is
detected, the red live wire LED Indicator will light (see illustrations 1
& 2) and a steady audible tone will be heard.

Increased Detection
Static electricity charges that can develop on drywall and other
surfaces will spread the voltage detection area many inches to
each side of the actual electrical wire. To aid in locating the wire
position, scan holding the unit 12mm (1/2") away from the surface or
place other hand on surface approximately 30cm (12") from sensor.
