Thank you for placing your trust in our company by purcha-
sing the Weller Cordless. Production was based on stringent
quality requirements which guarantee the perfect operation
of the device.

1. Caution!

Please read these Operating Instructions and the attached
Safety Information carefully prior to initial operation. Failure
to observe the safety regulations results in a risk to life and
limb.
The manufacturer shall not be liable for damage resulting
from misuse of the machine or unauthorised alterations.
The Weller Cordless corresponds to the EC Declaration of
Conformity in accordance with the basic safety requirements
of Directives 89/336/EEC and 73/23EEC.

2. Description

The Weller Cordless is a self-contained, low voltage solde-
ring iron with a powerful accumulator and a light incorpora-
ted into the handle which illuminates the soldering location.
The accumulator can be recharged in approx. 12 hours using
the short circuit-proof charging set with built in thermal cut-
out. The soldering iron, with a capacity of 15W, reaches its
soldering tip temperature of 370°C within approx. 6
seconds. Due to the fact mains and earth are entirely sepa-
rate, work can be carried out on electronic circuits without
interference peaks. The soldering tip and the heating ele-
ment form a single unit. The soldering tips are equipped with
an electroplated protective cating. This protective coating
subsstantially prolongs the life of the soldering tip and must
not be destroyed by and must not be destroyed by mechani-
cal action (filing, scratching).

3. Commissioning

Before using the soldering iron, the accumulator must be
charged. To do this, move the black sliding switch (3) of the
soldering iron to the backward grid position (to prevent swit-
ching on). Check whether the mains voltage is consistent

with the information on the type plate of the charging set (5).
If the mains voltage is correct, plug the charging set into the
mains socket and insert the charging cable into the connec-
tor socket (4) of the soldering iron. Following the charging
process (approx. 12 hours, or less depending on the char-
ging condition of the accumulator), take the charging cable
out of the soldering iron and disconnect the charging set (5)
from the mains. Move the black sliding switch (3) of the sol-
dering iron forward again into the operating position and
carry out an operational check by pressing down the sliding
switch. During this process the soldering location light (2)
should not flicker. Afterapprox. 6 seconds the soldering tip
(1) is ready for soldering.

Maintenance

When changing the soldering tip, first move the black sliding
switch to the backward grid position then loosen both
screws of the tip fastening and pull the tip out forwards.
Before inserting the new soldering tip make sure that the
screws are not projecting into the insert opening and that the
rear contact of the soldering tip is straight. When tightenng,
first tighten the rear screw.

4. Operating guidelines

The Weller Cordless soldering iron or accumulators which
have been stored should be recharged before first use.
Stored accumulators acquire their full capacity after two to
three charging/ dischargng cycles. During breaks in solde-
ring alaways make sure that the soldering tip is well tinned.
Before you begin soldering, all metallic parts must be well
cleaned. Use he correct solder. For normal, electrical con-
nections use a solder which is as acid-free as possible.
Warning: The Weller Cordless soldering iron and the
accumulators are hazardous waste and must be dispo-
sed of in accordance with local regulations.
