Caution must be exercised when driving screws
into hard materials (driving screws with metric or
imperial threads into steel)! The screw head may
break or high reverse torques may build up.
High forces are released if the tool jams or catches.
Always hold the tool firmly, ensure you have good
footing and concentrate when working.
Secure small workpieces. Clamp in a vice for
example.

5 Special Product Features
Metabo S-automatic safety clutch:
If the insertion tool jams or hooks, the power flow to
the engine will be restricted. Because of the high
power which then arises, always hold the machine
with both hands on the handles, stand safely, and
concentrate on your work.
Turn-off carbon brushes: If the brushes are
completely worn, the machine switches off automa-
tically.
6 Commissioning
Before plugging in, check to see that the
rated mains voltage and mains frequency,
as stated on the rating label, match with your
power supply.
6.1
Side handle installation
For safety reasons, always use the side
handle supplied.
Open the clamping ring by turning the additional
handle (2) counter-clockwise. Slide the additional
handle far enough forward so that it can be turned.
At the desired angle, pull it back and tighten firmly.
7 Use
7.1
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, press the trigger switch (4).
The speed can be changed at the trigger switch by
pressing.
For continuous operation the trigger switch can be
locked using the lock button (5). To stop the
machine, press the trigger switch again.
In continuous operation, the machine
continues running if it is forced out of
your hands. Therefore, always hold the
machine with both hands using the handles
provided, stand in a safe position and concen-
trate.

Selection of direction of rotation
Do not activate the rotation selector
switch (3) unless the motor has
completely stopped.
Select direction of rotation:
R = Clockwise
L = Counter-clockwise
