9.9.b. Tyre infl ation
- Make sure the wheel is securely clamped on the
turntable by the centring handle (Fig. 42).
- Ensure that the tool head, the upper and lower
bead breaker units and the bead depressor
are out of the work area and, if possible, in the
rest position.
- Remove the valve core if it has not already been
removed (Fig. 43).
- Connect the air hose Doyfe infl ator union to the
valve stem (Fig. 44).
- Press the pedal
at short intervals. Frequently check the pressure on
the pressure gauge (1, Fig.45) to make sure that the
pressure NEVER exceeds the maximum pressure
indicated by the manufacturer on the tyre. The tyre
widens and the beads are positioned.
If necessary:
Continue infl ating up to the maximum value of 3.5
bar to position the tyre correctly on the rim. Avoid
distractions during this operation, and continually
check tyre pressure on the air pressure gauge (1,
Fig. 45) to prevent excessive infl ation. Infl ating tubeless tyres requires a larger air fl ow
to force the beads past the HUMP rim - see rim profi les for mounting tubeless tyres in
fi g Fig.46.
