Free installation

During rough-in, install a properly anchored ½" drop-
eared ell, recessed at least 2" behind the surface of
the finished wall.
Install the finished wall surface.
Measure the distance from the surface of the finished
wall to the ell ("X").
Subtract ⅝" from this measurement.
Mark the threaded nipple at a point X - ⅝" from the
back of the nipple assembly.
Cut the nipple at this point.
