2. Packing
The pneumatic actuator is supplied tested, in packaging designed to protect it against knocks and
damage to its surfaces during transport. The packaging is not suitable for storage out of doors. As
well as the actuator, it contains this Declaration of incorporation in accordance with Directive
European 2006/42/EC MSD.
3. Installation
The MIX pneumatic actuator is ready for installation, but should be checked to ensure that no parts
have been damaged during the transport. When installing on the valve body, take care that the key
connection is of the correct type, ISO (series S) or DIN (series X). The actuator is suitable for instal-
lation indoors or out. In case of installation outdoors, the parts most exposed to the weather or the
formation/dripping of condensation should be protected with specific protective agents or with grease.
For fixing of the actuator and the MIX type SVA butterfly valves, refer to the documentation an-
nexed to the valve itself.
For correct adjustment of the actuator stroke, refer to TAV. 1-1.
4. Connection and operation
The pneumatic actuator requires a control solenoid valve, which can be purchased as an optional
from MIX (KE ...) or from a pneumatic equipment dealer. The solenoid valve may be mono-stable
or bi-stable. The recommended dimensions are shown in TAV. 2-1. For correct assembly of the
solenoid valve, see the specific documentation enclosed with it. The maximum operating pressure
is 6 bar. Position indicator micro switches are not essential for operation of the pneumatic actuator,
but are needed if remote signalling of the open or closed position of the valve controlled is required.
The same function is provided by the indicator flag (supplied as standard on all models) on the
actuator, visible to any operator close to the machine. The actuator can be fitted with limit switches
of various kinds: mechanical (KEF2C), inductive (KEF2D) or micro switches (KEF2E), sold sepa-
rately complete with specific documentation for installation.
Before connecting the limit switches to the power supply, check that the main voltage is correct.
Note: the electrical connections must be made by specialised staff and must comply with the
regulations in force in the country of use.
5. Operating procedures
After checking that the actuator has been installed and connected correctly, follow all the operating
precautions envisaged for the machines operated by this actuator.
6. Safety recommendations
The safety measures relating to design and construction have been complied with by the producer
company MIX. Below we only indicate the safety measures for which the installer and the user are
responsible, which are as follows:
a = Risk
b = Remedy
1-.. = residual risks and measures to be applied in reference to the only electro-pneumatic RAP
2-.. = residual risks and measures to be applied in reference to the electro-pneumatic RAP complete
with butterfly valve SVA
