ensure that eff ective drainage occurs.
• Th e water separator should not be subject to frequent pressure
cycling exceeding 1000 cycles from 0 to nominal pressure over
the life time of the separator. Consider the use of a compressed
air/nitrogen receiver to help avoid frequent pressure cycling.
4. Operation and maintenance
• Ensure that the water separator is properly sized for the com-
pressed air/nitrogen fl ow, pressure and temperature in accord-
ance to Tables 2 (A,B,C).
• IMPORTANT: Verify that the condensate collected within the
water separator is being completely drained.
IMPORTANT: Verify corrosion of the water separator periodically
and at least once per year by measuring its thickness. Th e water
separator's thickness must not be less than ' A ' for the shell and 'B'
for the end cap (Table 3).
• IMPORTANT: If the water separator's thickness falls
below a minimum level shown in Table 3, it must be
immediately removed from service and replaced.
• IMPORTANT: Welding, grinding or any other modifi cation
is strictly forbidden and exonerates the manufacturer from all
responsibility and invalidates the warranty.
5. Ultrasonic thickness measurement
• It is recommended to contact qualifi ed personnel certifi ed by
a third-party organization recognized by a European Member
State or equivalent according to the requirements of EN 14127:
2011.
• An ultrasonic thickness tester suitable for use with painted
surfaces should be used.
• Compare all measured results to the minimum values indi-
cated in Table 3. Measured results should be documented and
saved.
• Separators with wall thicknesses less than the minimum
values given in Table 3 should immediately be removed from
service and replaced.
• Repeat the measurements at least every 12 months measur-
ing at the same positions on the water separator. Increase the
frequency of measurement of thicknesses if the measurements
are nearing the minimum values indicated in Table 3.
• If more information on ultrasonic thickness measurement
is required please refer to the standard EN 14127:2011 "Non-
destructive testing – Ultrasonic thickness measurement".
