SURVEILLANCES SPECIFIQUES
SPECIFIC SURVEILLANCE
-
Prohibit any alteration or repair to the restraining or securing devices.
-
Place and secure the waist belt such that the patient is sitting right back in his/her seat, with the lumbar region against the chair back.
-
Check that an agitated patient cannot access or handle the closing systems.
-
Tilt the seat or chair back by 10° for patients with weak muscle tone.
-
Adjust the chair foot rest correctly (height, angle, depth) so that the patient cannot slide forwards.
-
If necessary, use extra devices like cushions, whose material limits sliding of upper body supports and hip abduction braces between the
thighs or customized seats.
-
Assess the merits of using restraining or securing devices on the arm/wheelchair daily.
-
Check the restraining devices used and stocked for the intention of physical restraint at regular intervals. They must be clean, complete,
in good condition and kept such that they can be used swiftly.
-
Keep unused devices out of patients' reach.
-
Check that cleaning and maintenance are carried out in accordance with the instructions given in the user's manual.
-
Check that the buckle for adjusting the length of the removable pelvic strap is protected between the 2 rear fabrics of the waist restraint.
