Precautions during transport
The cylinders are fitted with a cap on the tank (Fig. A-1). When transporting the cylinder, tighten the upper knob of the
cap until it locks to avoid any oil leaks if the cylinder is laid down.
Bending
The cylinders have been designed to work in horizontal position only.
- To use the cylinder, loosen the upper knob fully (Fig. A-1, page 2) to drain the air / release to open air.
- Position each roller (Fig. B, page 2) symmetrically on the flanges (Fig. D, page 2) according to the diameter of the tube
to be bent.
- Position the bending form on the piston end piece (Fig. A-2, page 2) according to the diameter of the tube to be bent
(maximum bending angle: 90°).
- Tighten the grey return knob at the rear on the side (Fig. A-3, page 2), then carry out the bending:
- Manual model 2402: activate the lever vertically until you reach the required angle.
- Electrical model 2408: set the switch to "On" until you reach the required angle, then set the switch to "Off".
- To return the piston to its initial position after bending, unscrew the grey knob (Fig. A-3, page 2).
Maintenance
To top up the oil, loosen the nut at the base of the cap, under the upper screw (Fig. A-1, page 2). You may obtain a 1L
tub of Virax cylinder oil (Virax reference 240101).
Different linkage available:
- Sliding flanges (Fig. D-2, page 2): enables elbow in elbow bending.
- Open flange (Fig. D-1, page 2): enables elbow in elbow bending, with better visibility for the bending operation.
90° bend with a given dimension
Bending example for a 1"1/4 tube with a 135mm radius form.
Dimension to be deduced: form radius 135 x 0.2146 = 29 mm.
To obtain a dimension of 500 mm from the end in the tube axis once the 90° bend is produced, the 29 mm dimension
must be deduced. So, we determine a marker to be placed in the middle of the form.
This calculation is theoretical. In practice, the dimension to be deduced is generally 1 to 3 mm greater than the theoretical
dimension.
