The device meets the explosion protection requirements of Directive 94 / 9 EG
(ATEX) for the explosion group, device category and temperature class specified on
the type plate. The specifications in these operating instructions must be strictly
complied with when operating this device. The stipulated inspection and mainte-
nance intervals must be observed. The information on the device signs or the details
in the chapter on technical data must be absolutely complied with and may not be
exceeded. Overloading the device must be ruled out.
The device may be used in explosion endangered areas only in compliance with the
competent supervising agency.
The competent supervising agency or the operating company is responsible to
determine the explosion hazard (zone assignment).
The operating company must verify and ensure that all technical data and the iden-
tification comply with the required definitions according to ATEX.
The operating company must provide appropriate safety measures for applications
where the failure of the device might present a hazard to persons.
If any particularities are noted during operation, the device must be shut down imme-
diately and WALTHER Spritz- und Lackiersysteme shall be contacted.
Grounding / equipotential bonding
It must be ensured that the spray gun is adequately grounded via a conducting air
hose (max. resistance 10
Ω).

Inappropriate use

The spray gun must not be used for purposes other than those set forth in section
1.2 Intended use.
Any other use is considered inappropriate.
Inappropriate use includes, for example:
spraying material on persons and animals
spraying liquid nitrogen.

Technical description

When the trigger is operated, the preliminary air is opened first and then the mate-
rial needle (item 9) pulled back. Thus the spray material passes through the nozzle.
Closing takes place in reverse order. The material flow volume depends on the
nozzle diameter and the setting of the material pressure on the pressure tank or the
material pressure regulator. In addition, the material volume can be regulated by
turning the adjusting screw in or out. Refer to 6 Changing the spray pattern for addi-
tional adjustment options.

3.1

Identification of safety instructions

Warning
The pictogram and the urgency level "Warning" identify a possible danger to per-
sons.
Possible consequences: Slight to severe injuries.
Attention
The pictogram and the urgency level "Attention" identify a possible danger to mate-
rial assets.
Possible consequences: Damage to material assets.
Note
The pictogram and the urgency level "Note" identify additional information for the
safe and efficient operation of the spray gun.
3.2

General Safety instructions

► The relevant accident prevention regulations as well as the other recognised
safety-related and occupational health and safety rules shall be - observed.
► The users must be instructed in the non-hazardous handling of the spray gun as
required.
► Use the spray gun only in well ventilated rooms. In the work area fire, open
flame and smoking are not permitted. Spraying of easily flammable materials
(e.g. lacquers, adhesives, cleaning agents, etc.) represents an increased risk to
personal health, of explosion and fire hazards.
► It must be ensured that the spray gun is adequately grounded through a
conducting air hose (max. shunting resistance 10
► Before each maintenance and repair activity the air and material supply must be
depressurised - risk of injury.
► When spraying materials, never hold hands or other body parts
in front of the pressurized nozzle of the spray gun. - Risk of injury.
► Never point the spray gun at persons or animals

► Follow the processing and safety instructions of the manufacturers of spraying
materials and cleaning agents. Especially aggressive and caustic materials may
cause health damages.
► Particle-conveying discharged air must be kept away from the working area and
operating personnel. Nonetheless, be sure to wear stipulated respirators protec-
tion and work clothes when processing materials with the spray gun. Airborne
particles present a health hazard.
► Wear eye protection during painting and cleaning.
