12 TREE TRAIN
Insert batteries into fuel car as indicated (Figure 5a)
CAUTION: Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (car-
bon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries. Do not use rechargeable
batteries.
Place engine on track. Connect fuel car to engine using the power hook-up line
as well as the safety catch.
IMPORTANT: BE SURE ALL WHEELS ARE SET ON THE TRACK PROPERLY
AND ROLL FREELY.
Move your tree train back and forth by hand to be sure the wheels will roll smo-
othly on track before running on battery power.
YOUR TRAIN HAS A TWO-FUNCTION SWITCH: (Figure 5c)
A. LONG RUN (Continuous run)
Switch to LONG RUN (ON) using the function switch located on the back end
section of the engine. This will allow the Tree Train to run continuously until the
switch is manually turned to the SHORT RUN (OFF) position.
B. SHORT RUN (battery saver- timed run)
To run in the BATTERY SAVER MODE, turn the switch to SHORT RUN (OFF).
Then activate the train by pressing the GOLD DOME on the top of the engine
(Figure 5d). Your train will run for 2 minutes and then automatically shut off. To
stop your Tree Train in the middle of a SHORT RUN cycle, turn the function
switch to LONG RUN (ON) and then immediately back to SHORT RUN (OFF).
Your train will stop.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
When the Tree Train travels around the track, a slight tilt or wobble might occur.
DO NOT BE CONCERNED. The supports struts and track flex slightly so the
tree will not tilt or lean in reaction to the weight transfer of the moving train.
