Cleaning and maintenance
• Draperies and curtains can be steamed while still hanging. Precaution should be
taken when using a step ladder for extra height. Do not use a stool, a chair, or a
revolving chair.
• Be very careful when steaming any delicate fabrics that may be damaged by heat
or water spotting.
Cleaning and maintenance
WARNING: Be sure that the steamer is unplugged and has completely cooled down
before cleaning or storing it.
Cleaning
CAUTION: NEVER immerse the steamer in water or any other liquids. NEVER use
abrasive cleaners or hard brushes to clean the steamer.
1. Switch off the steamer and unplug it from the power outlet. Allow the steamer to
completely cool down.
2. Remove the cap and drain any water remaining in the steamer.
3. Clean the housing and the cap with a soft and damp cloth.
4. Let all parts dry thoroughly.
Mineral build-up
Over time, the steamer will start to build up mineral deposits. When water is
converted to steam, the calcium remains and causes scaling of the interior, showing
up as white residue or white colored deposits. This is a normal process and happens
in all electrical appliances that use water, caused by high mineral content in many
municipal water supplies. The harder the water in your area, the faster scale
impurities will develop and solidify if not cleaned away.
The best way to minimize mineral build-up is to use distilled or de-mineralized water
when using the steamer.
In addition, it is recommended that the steamer is cleaned at least once a month in
order to remove any deposits.
Without regular descaling, you will find that scale is pushed out of the steamer in the
form of white/brown stains and that the steam output is compromised.
