27. The factory-fitted Gateway must be encoded for the "towing hitch" function extension using a
service tester as follows:

o Select function 008, Encoding (Service $22).
Modifications to the encoding are only adopted after changing the ignition.

29. All necessary control units will be recoded to towing operation by entering the action code.
The manual encoding of other control units (e.g. parking assistant) is therefore not necessary.
30. Then, as in the beginning, perform a system query via the "Guided troubleshooting" and
delete any possible error codes.
31. Check the functions of the trailer using a suitable test device (with load resistors) or with a
trailer attached.
32. Secure all cables with cable ties and re-fit all disassembled parts.
