Vigorimeter
1
Description
In the diagnostic field, the testing of the muscular strength plays a most remarkable part.
The Vigorimeter from KLS Martin is a quite new dynamometer the results of which are
registered by a pointer on the dial of a manometer. This manometer is connected with rubber
bulbs of various sizes by means of a rubber tubing with metal adapter.
The essential advantage of the Vigorimeter from KLS Martin lies in the fact, that it can be
easily handled, that the results are absolutely correct and in its wide range of application, that
is to say, from the baby to the adolescent and the adult.
The test does not entail any inconvenience and may be, therefore, repeated. Even if the tests
are being repeated several times, there will be no troublesome accompanying symptoms.
Owing to the fact that the size of the rubber bulb (small, medium and large) adapts itself to
the individual size of the hand the patient is enabled to employ his maximum strength.
The large bulb will be used by adults and adolescents whose metacarpal circumference is more
than 19 cm (glove size more than 7 1/2), the medium size bulb by young ladies and women as
well as by adolescents whose metacarpal circumference is less than 19 cm, while the small
bulb should be used in testing babies and schoolboys and schoolgirls of from 2 to 10 years
approximately. Further, this small bulb can be also used for testing the strength of individual
fingers, that is to say, of adolescents and adults. In this case, the bulb will be held between
the thumb and the fingers or between the metacarpus and the finger.
