Inserting the Batteries (Batteries not supplied)

Open the lid of the battery compartment (28) on the bottom.
•
Insert 8 batteries of type UM2/R14 1,5V. Please ensure that
the polarity is correct (see the fl oor of the battery compart-
ment)!
•
If the device is not used for a long period of time, remove the
batteries to avoid the spilling of battery acid.
•
If the power cable is connected, the batteries are switched
off automatically.
•
Different battery types or new and used batteries must not
be used together.
•
Then close the battery lid.
Warning: batteries are not to be disposed of together with
domestic wastes. Dispose of the used batteries at the relevant
collection bin or at your dealer's.
Never throw batteries into the fi re.
CD deck transport protection
•
Please open the CD compartment (11) by pressing the
PUSH/OPEN button (12).
•
Remove the transport protection from the CD player if
present before use.
Headphone Socket (32)
Please use headphones with a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug; these
should be inserted into the
then switched off.
MIC Microphone Socket (33)
In order to use the karaoke function (singing accompaniment)
during CD playback, connect a microphone to the MIC socket on
the rear of the machine.
Volume
The desired volume can be sent using the VOLUME regulator (5).
USB Connexion (7)
This device has been developed in accordance with the latest
technical developments in the USB fi eld. Unfortunately the large
number of different types of USB storage media on offer today
makes it impossible to guarantee full compatibility with all USB
storage media.
1. Turn the function selector switch (6) to the CD/USB/CARD
position.
2. Connect a USB storage medium.
3. Hold the
II (14) button down for approx. 3 seconds until
the letters USB appear in the display. The device is now
in USB mode. After a few seconds the total number of
songs/tracks is shown in the display (13). In the display (13)
the fi rst song/track, „MP3" and the symbol „ " appear after
a few seconds and playback begins.

Important: Before you remove the USB storage medium turn
the function selector switch (6) to the TAPE position.
SD/MMC Card Slot (26)
1. If you would like to play back data on an SD/MMC card
please insert it into the opening provided.
2. Press the SD/MMC card into the opening provided until it
clicks into place.
3. Turn the function selector switch (6) to the CD/USB/CARD
position.
4. Hold the
II (14) button down for approx. 3 seconds until
the letters USB appear in the display.
5. Hold the
(17) button down for approx. 3 seconds until the
letters CARD appear in the display. The device is now in
CARD mode.
6. In the display (13) the fi rst song/track, „MP3" and the symbol
„ " appear after a few seconds and playback begins.
7. For operating instructions please see the section "Playing
CDs/MP3s".
8. If the CARD connection is no longer needed, hold the
II (14) button down for approximately 3 seconds until the
letters CARD disappear from the display. The device is now
in CD mode.
9. Press the SD/MMC card again to remove it.
Listening to the Radio
1. Turn the function selector switch (6) to the RADIO position.
VHF (Stereo) = FM ST., VHF = FM,
Medium wave = AM (Mono)
2. Tune in the desired station with the station adjustment knob
TUNING (8).
3. The FM.ST control lamp (2) only lights up when you have
selected FM stereo and the station is being received in ste-
reo quality. If reception is too weak and there is noise on the
station being received, this lamp will fl icker. Where reception
is bad we recommend switching to FM.
4. For VHF/FM mode pull out the telescopic antenna (30) and
turn it to improve reception.
5. An aerial is integrated into the device for the reception of
AM stations. The machine can be aligned to the station by
turning it. In this frequency band programs are transmitted in
„mono" only.
Cassette Operation
Playing Cassettes
1. Turn the function selector switch (6) to the TAPE position.
2. Press the
/
stop/eject button (21) to open the cassette
compartment (19).
3. Insert a recorded audiocassette into the compartment with
the tape opening facing upwards and the side you wish to
listen to facing the front (full spool to the right). Then close
the cassette compartment (19) again.
