SETUP
1 The CROSS-CUT 10 should be placed on a flat level surface. Depending on
the type of floor surface where the shredder is to be placed, casters have
been included and can be installed easily. It's recommended that the casters
are only being used if the shredder is placed on a hard, smooth surface.
2 To install the casters, carefully lay the shredder on its back. Place the long
post of each caster inside the hole located in each corner on the bottom of
the shredder. Push each caster into place until you hear or feel it snap and
lock in place. Place the shredder in an upright position. Make sure that the
shredder stands evenly and that all 4 casters fit squarely on the floor. Two
casters with brake should be installed in front.
3 Make sure that the wastebasket is completely inserted into the shredder
cabinet and that it fits flush with the shredder cabinet.
4 Plug the power cord into any standard 220~240-volt AC outlet.
5 Press the POWER button, Ready LED should light up. You are now ready to
start shredding.
OPERATing THE SHREDDER
When the electrical cord is plugged in, POWER button is pressed and the shred-
der wastebasket is properly in place, the ready LED will light up. This means
the shredder is now ready to operate. When the paper is inserted into the feed
opening, the shredding process will start automatically and stop when the paper
has completed its travel through the feed opening.
The CROSS-CUT 10 FWD, REV and POWER button are located on the top of the
shredder. Their purposes are:
1
When press POWER button, the shredding process will start when paper is
inserted into the feed opening and will continue until it has completely passed
through the feed opening.
2
The REV function is used to assist in the removal of a paper jam. It reverses the
shredding process prior to a completed forward cycle. When paper is overload
press REV button and tear off the exceeding paper and then press FWD to shred
again.
3
It is recommended to turn the shredder off when not in use for a prolonged
period of time.
4
If the ready LED does not light up, make sure that the plug is plugged in, the
basket is inserted correctly and that the Power button is pressed.

TiOnS
The CROSS-CUT 10 is equipped with a motor overload protection device and
current limiter circuit. The normal short duty cycle for continuous shredding at
maximum capacity is 2 minutes on and 20 minutes off The power may terminate
automatically in case of the following abnormal situations:
1 Operating the shredder at the maximum10-sheet capacity continuously for a
prolonged period of time, e.g. More than 2 minutes without stopping.
2 Exceeding the shredding capacity, e.g. Inserting more than 10 sheets of
standard 80 g A4 paper at one pass, or if the paper is not fed squarely into
the feed opening.
2
Both abnormal operations may result in the activation of the current limiter
circuit or the thermal motor overload protection, which terminates the power to
the shredder. A minor paper jam will terminate the power to the motor tempo-
rarily. The current limiter circuit can be reset immediately by removing the jam
whereas a major paper jam could cause the thermal motor overload protection
to terminate AC power to the motor. Never allow the shredder to remain in a
jammed condition when the AC power turned on.
in CASE Of A minOR PAPER jAm
1 Press REV button to reverse exceeding paper and remove it from the feed
opening.
2 You are now ready to resume normal shredding.
in CASE Of A mAjOR PAPER jAm
1 Set the power switch to the OFF position or unplug the power cord from the
AC outlet and wait at least 20 minutes for the overload protection to reset.
2 Tear or cut off any excess paper from the top of the shredder.
3 Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet or press POWER button to
shred remaining paper in the cutters or insert one sheet paper to clear cutter
blades and then it can come to normal shredding process.
4 You are now ready to resume normal shredding.
CAUTiOnS
1 Keep all loose articles of clothing, ties, jewelry, hair or other small items away
from the feed opening to prevent injury.
2 Keep shredder turned OFF or unplugged when not in use for a prolonged
period of time.
3 Remove all paper clips and staples from paper before shredding . The
CROSS-CUT 10 will cut staples, however this is not recomended.
4 Do not place hands or fingers into the shredder throat as this could result
into serious injuries.
5 Continuous shredding of computer paper should not exceed 2 minutes. If
continuous use is required at the maximum sheet capacity (10 sheets), it is
recommended that shredding time should be 2 minutes on and 20 minutes
off to allow a proper cooling of the motor.
6 Always turn off or unplug the shredder prior to moving, cleaning or empty-
ing the wastebasket.
7 Empty the wastebasket frequently to avoid paper jams caused by shredding
material being pulled back into the cutter assembly.
8 Never allow children to shred or play with paper shredders. Serious injury
could occur!
9 Never spray canned air or any type of spray lubricant into the shredder while
shredder is plugged in as this could result into serious injuries.
