Assembly instructions
General and transport tips
The installation must only be carried out by qualified personnel. The entire information in these instructions is intended exclusively for such qualified personnel. Only the supplied material
should be used for the installation. Prior to starting installation and operation of the solar collector system, please inform yourself about applicable local standards and regulations. The
collector must not be lifted direct at the tube copper pipes or connection parts. There is a danger of damage. The transport protection used must only be removed immediately before the
collector is mounted. Avoid impacts and mechanical influences on the collector, particularly on the solar glass, rear panel and the pipe connections.
Statics
The collectors must only be mounted on sufficiently load-bearing roof surfaces and substructures. It is imperative that the static load bearing capacity of the roof or substructure is
checked in terms of local and regional conditions prior to installation of the collectors by the customer, if necessary with the involvement of a structural engineer. Particular attention
should be paid to the quality of the (timber) substructure in terms of the stability of the screw connections necessary for fastening the collectors. To prevent damage to the roofing in
the event of considerable loads, the use of metal reinforcements such as metal bricks is recommended The inspection of the entire collector structure according to EN 1991-1 Parts 3 and
4 NA or as per the applicable country-specific regulations is particularly important in areas with heavy snowfall or in areas exposed to high wind speeds The assessment should also take
into account any particular circumstances at the place of installation (foehn wind, air jets or eddy formation etc.) which can lead to increased loads. Snow catchers are to be installed at a
maximum distance of 0,5 m from the upper edge of the collector (the collector should not function as a snow catcher). It must be ensured for the selection of the installation location that
the maximum loads are neither exceeded by snow nor wind forces. Basically, the collector arrays must be installed so that any possible accumulation of snow is prevented from reaching
the collectors by snow barriers (or by special forms of installation). The collectors may not be installed at the edge of the roof (e/10 marginal zones on areas of roofing are to be complied
with pursuant to EN 1991, but they must be at least 1m). The upper edge of the collector may not project beyond the roof ridge.
Pitched roof mounting tips: The installation of a collector array is an intervention into a (existing) roof. Roof coverings such as bricks, shingles and slates, especially converted and
inhabited loft spaces or roofs with less than the minimum slope (with regard to the covering) require building measures e.g. underroof membranes, as protection against water penetration
caused by wind pressure and driving snow.
Flat roof mounting tips: For larger collector arrays we recommend installing the collectors on a special supporting structure. Alternatively an installation is possible without penetrating
the roof membrane by using concrete blocks. The collectors are mounted on concrete blocks. Rubber mats should be used with a certified coefficient of friction if necessary to increase the
adhesion (static friction) between the roof and concrete blocks and to prevent damage to the roof membrane.
Lightning protection / Equipotential bonding of the building
As per the stipulations of Lightning Protection Standard EN 62305 Parts 1 to 4, the collector field must not be connected to the building's lightning protection. Beyond the scope of validity
of this standard, country-specific legislation must be observed. A safety gap of at least 1 m from any adjacent object that may be conductive must be left. In the case of installations on top
of existing metal substructures, an authorised and qualified electrician must be consulted. To enable potential equalisation of the building, the metallic conductor pipes of the solar circuit
and all of the collector housing/fixtures must be connected to the main equipotential busbar in accordance with EN 60364 and/or countryspecific legislation by an authorised and qualified
electrician.
Pipe routing in the roof area
Uninsulated parts of the solar line must not come into contact with wood-based materials!
Connections
The collectors are to be connected together using hydraulic connectors. The double seal is pre-lubricated in the factory to facilitate fitting. Connectors are to be retained in their original
packaging until use and protected from damage. The connector can still be installed even if this lubricant is absent in the delivered state but it must not then under any circumstances
be treated with different lubricants. If the O-rings are damaged or soiled, the entire connector can no longer be used. Replacing the O-rings is not recommended. Care should be taken
to ensure that the connectors/connections are correctly fitted. Care should be taken with the connecting pipework to ensure that appropriate precautions for compensating the heat
expansion caused by temperature fluctuations are provided for (expansion bends, flexible pipework). Recommended wiring schemes and maximum number of collectors per collector field
see chapter „Recommended hydraulic connections"
ATTENTION: When tightening the connections, always apply counter-pressure with a wrench or another spanner to prevent damage to the absorber.
Do not under any circumstances use pipe wrenches to avoid damaging the glass edge.
Collector angle / General notes
The collector is suitable for angles between 15 ° (minimum) and 70 ° (maximum). The collector connections and the ventilation openings must be protected against the penetration of water
as well as contamination such as dust etc. Usually the collector does not need any cleaning. If so, it shall be cleaned with potable water or demineralized water only.
Connecting the support rails
Carrier profiles must be put together at the installation site (eg on the roof)!
Do not transport mated carrier profiles vertically!
Beam profile joints must not be in the area of roof hooks!
Warranty
Warranty claim only in conjunction with the supplier's original frost protection and correct installation, commissioning and maintenance. Installation by qualified personnel with strict
adherence to the instructions is a prerequisite for the justification of claims.
Note: Installing solar thermal pannels (collectors) near to coastal regions or in any other corrosive environment may result in corrosion of the absorber. Sonnenkraft doesn't take any
responsibility or liability for such damages if installed in such environment.
