Security Connection
The TIDP features a Security Port which can be connected to a security system; in an
emergency situation, the security port over-rides telephone service to Line 1 when an alarm
is activated. The security feature can only be activated on Line 1.
NOTE: If the security system is removed, or if none is used, the attached Shorting Plug
needs to be inserted into the Security Port in order for Line 1 service to be routed to the
Test Port for distribution to the ADO Port on the TIDP.
WARNING:
Do not use the Voice Line Input Jacks as outputs to installed telephones,
doing so can prevent the security system from capturing the phone line in an alarm
condition.
3) TEsTIng InCoMIng TELEPHonE sErVICE
To test the incoming telephone service, disconnect the patch cord from the Test Port, which
will deactivate the ADO and additional ports. Plug the tester into the Test Port to verify
phone service.
Restoring service after testing:
Reconnect the 3" 8-position patch cord from the Test Port to the ADO restoring the bridge
between the incoming lines and the distribution ports.
4) ConnECTIng To sTruCTurED CaBLIng
Using the provided 8" 8p8c Flat Satin Patch Cables, patch from a distribution port labeled
1, 2, 3, 4 into a corresponding jack on your structured cabling termination panel that is
designated for phone service. Repeat this procedure for each telephone location.
