OPERATION

Safety instructions – operation
Before using the manoeuvring tool in practical situations, we advise carrying out a few manoeuvring attempts
on open land (without obstacles). This will familiarise you more effectively with the manoeuvring tool and
its use.
Always check the manoeuvring tool for damage before using it!
When manoeuvring the caravan, remember that the floor clearance is reduced once the manoeuvring
tool is installed.
The AL-KO manoeuvring drive must only be operated by persons of majority age.
There should be nobody in the caravan while it is being manoeuvred.
Do not use the manoeuvring system
to manoeuvre or turn on public roads.
under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication.
Ensure that children and pets are kept at a safe distance during the manoeuvring process!
Ensure that no hair, fingers or clothing can get trapped between the drive rollers and the wheels!
In the event of a defect or malfunction, apply the caravan's handbrake and switch the main switch off.
To maintain the signal strength, ensure that the distance between the remote control and the caravan
does not exceed 5 metres during the manoeuvring process.
Wireless remote operations are always dependent on radio signals. These signals can be interfered
with by external influences. In the event of a fault caused by a radio signal, the manoeuvring tool must
be temporarily stopped until the signal is free of interference again (communication status is visible on
the remote control).
Remember that the manoeuvring tool increases the weight of your caravan. This reduces the caravan's
cargo load.
Do not exceed the overall payload of 1,800 kg of total weight (caravan including cargo) with 2 motors,
and 2,500 kg (caravan including cargo) when 4 motors are used (tandem axle).
Ensure that the drive rollers are released completely from the tyres when the manoeuvring tool is not
in use. This protects tyres and the manoeuvring tool.
Ensure that the drive rollers are completely released from the tyres before moving the caravan with a
vehicle or by hand. Otherwise, damage can occur to the tyres, the manoeuvring system and the towing
vehicle.
Ensure that, after use, the manoeuvring tool is switched off via the battery disconnection switch and that
the key is removed and stored safely (out of the reach of children or unauthorised persons). If the main
switch is not switched off, the battery will discharge.
Ensure that the remote control is switched off and stored securely in the wall bracket (out of the reach
of children or unauthorised persons).
Do not use the manoeuvring tool as a parking brake!
After manoeuvring, always apply the handbrake before releasing the rollers from the tyres!
Do not use the jack on the manoeuvring tool or connecting rods!
Depending on the weight of the caravan, the manoeuvring tool may not be able to overcome all obstacles
without assistance (e.g. kerbs).
In such instances, use a ramp.
Ensure that all tyres on the trailer are of the same size.
If the tyres are worn and have been replaced with new ones, the distance between the drive rollers and
the tyres may need to be re-calibrated.
