3 – STOPPING THE WATERMAKER
There is different procedure after a stop :
Rinsing : Insure rinsing of the membrane with fresh water and to increase the life of the membrane : do a rinsing when the
-
watermaker is stopped for 2 weeks maximum.
Cleaning : Insure quality of the membrane performances after chemicals cleaning : do a cleaning every year.

Preservation : Insure preservation of the membrane with the sodium métabisulfite, it's necessary when the watermaker is stopped
-
for more 2 weeks, renew every year.
Wintering : Procedure of cleaning and storage of the watermaker (for a long time stop, renew every year).

3.1 – SIMPLE STOP (STOP FOR 3 DAYS MAXIMUM)
Turn OFF the system with the red button (31).

Shut the hull valve (V0).

It is strongly advised to carry out fresh water rinsing each time you stop the unit, this guarantees the longevity of the membrane
and avoids oxidation of metal parts by electrolysis.
If the unit is to be out of use for a short time (less than 2 weeks) proceed with rinsing (See 3.2). If it is to be out of use for a long time
proceed with preservation (See 3.3).
3.2 – STOPPING WITH FRESH WATER FLUSH (STOP BETWEEN 3 DAYS AND 2 WEEKS)
Fresh water flush should be carried out before stopping the unit for a short period. In case of a long stop period, proceed with the
preservation operation. Fresh water preservation requires the use of a bucket, for example a household bucket, which should be
perfectly clean and FREE OF ANY TRACES OF GREASY SUBSTANCES
1. Stop the unit by pressing the red button "STOP" (31).
2. Push the blue button "RINSING" (41). The pump start and take the water from the fresh water principal tank of the boat (the tank
must be contain 20 liters of water minimum).
3. The rinsing module contain a timer for a scheduled stop (ESW 301/302 : 2min ESW 601/602 : 1min).
4. After the stop of the rinsing cycle, shut the hull valve (V0).
N.B : Do not switch off the watermaker if the rinsing valve (18) is not completely return in its initial position (closed) otherwise there is a risk of
emptying the fresh water tank.
3.3 – STOPPING WITH PRESERVATION (STOP OF MORE THAN 2 WEEKS)
BEFORE THE PRESERVATION PROCEDURE, CARRY OUT A RINSING OF THE CIRCUIT (See 3.2)
Preservation should imperatively be carried out before stopping the system over a long period (more than 2 weeks).
1. Use the preservation liquid - reference AQUA-BASE, Ref. 752039.
2. Turn OFF the system with the red button (31).
3. Take 10 liters of water from the principal tank, fill the auxiliary tank and add the preservation liquid.
If the unit is to be stored at a temperature below 0°C, 20% of AQUA-BASE ANTI-FREEZE® ref.752004 must be added to the
preservation solution, during its preparation.
4. Position the inlet valve (1) so as to take water from the auxiliary tank and direct it towards the LP pump.
5. Open the air bleed valve (7) of the hydraulic almplifier (6).
6. Put the cleaning valve (11) in reject position.
7. Disconnect the production valve (14) : for this, remove the screw of the little box (valve 14) and take off the connection, it's
necessary to isolate the principal main tank of fresh water
8. Press the green button « ON » (30) to start the pump. Supervise the level of water in the auxiliary tank
9. The fresh water removes the salt which settled on the membrane and the preservation product avoids the development of bacteria.
10. Stop the pump before the auxiliary tank is empty to avoid air accumulation.
11. When pump is stopped, shut the hull valve (V0).
12. Not forget to re-connect the production valve (14).
N.B :
In order to avoid the PRESERVATION procedure during immobilisation of the unit, operate the unit for a few minutes every week. It
is strongly advised to carry out rinsing by fresh water every time the unit is stopped, as this guarantees the longevity of the
membrane and avoids oxidation of metal parts by electro corrosion.
Never close the discharge valve (R) because in case of starts-up of the unit, the pressure in the circuit of
discharge would damage the unit irreversibly.
