3.5 PLANT PROTECTION (OPTIONAL)
Plate protection (Fig. 21)
Protection of the plants can be anticipated or delayed through the
coupling combinations of holes (A) and (B).
Disk protection
The model with toothed disk (Fig. 22) is particularly effective given
the precise and delicate way it operates near plants and its ability
to pull up certain types of weeds in the most effi cient manner. It
also permits higher work speeds. During operation, the toothed
disk (1, Fig. 22) may be disabled using the lock (2).
Warning!
In machines with an inter-row spacing of 45 cm, shorten the front
spring support tubes (A) to 250 mm, arranging them according to
the sizes given in Figure 23.
Lock the toothed disks in place, staggering them as illustrated.
3.6 RIDGING PLOW (OPTIONAL)
This attachment hoes around plants and amasses the earth
around the bases to freshen the roots and strengthen the plants
themselves (Fig. 24).
The amount of earth around the hoed plants may be varied by
adjusting the opening of the wings with holes (A).
3.7 DIRECTIONAL DISKS (OPTIONAL)
Used primarily in steeply-sloped areas. Positioned on the front of
the frame, they are regulated by a spring (A) that exerts greater
or less pressure on the disks themselves, depending on terrain
conditions (Fig. 25).
