These operation instructions are common to all Base Camp / Base Camp Lid units concerning their accessories and operation.
A - PREPARATION FOR USE
IMPORTANT
This operation manual will help you use your
Campingaz
®
unit properly and in complete safety.
Consult the manual to familiarise yourself with
the unit, before connecting the gas cylinder.
Abide by the instructions given in this manual.
Failure to do so may be dangerous for the user
and anyone else close by.
Always keep this manual in a safe place, readily
available for reference if necessary.
This unit is manufactured to use either butane or
propane, with a suitable regulator and a hose or
flexible hose, which are sold separately.
This unit should only be used outdoors, and away
from inflammable materials.
Never use a unit that is leaking, that is not opera-
ting properly or that is damaged. Return it to your
dealer, who will indicate the nearest servicing
agent.
Never modify this unit, or use it for applications
for which it was not intended.
A - 1 - Gas cylinder and regulator
This unit can be used with a CAMPINGAZ
cylinder type 904 or 907 and the CAMPINGAZ
mbar or 50 mbar regulator.
It can also be used with other, larger, butane or
propane reservoirs (6 kg, 13 kg, etc.) and the appropri-
ate relief valves (consult your dealer):
France, Belgium, Luxembourg, U.K., Ireland,
Portugal, Spain, Italy:
butane 28-30 mbar / propane 37 mbar
Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands,
Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia:
butane 30 mbar / propane 30 mbar
Switzerland, Germany, Austria:
butane 50 mbar / propane 50 mbar
When connecting or changing a cylinder, always oper-
ate in an open, well-ventilated place, and never in the
presence of a flame, spark or any other source of heat.
A - 2 - Hoses (see fig. 4)
France :
The device must be used with a flexible hose designed
to be fitted into a threaded end piece on the device side
and held in place on the regulator with clamps (XP D
36-110 Standard).
Length must not be greater than 1.50 m. The hose
must be changed if the use-by date has been reached
or if it is damaged or cracked.
Do not pull on the hose or twist it. Keep the hose away
from any parts that may become hot.
Install the hose as described in the assembly instruc-
tions, supplied with the hose and collars.
A gas-tight seal should be checked as described in
Section B).

Base Camp / Base Camp Lid stove.
Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, U.K., Ireland,
Portugal, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Norway,
Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Croatia:
The stove is equipped with a ribbed end-piece for use
with a type of hose suitable for butane and propane.
Hose length should not exceed 1.20 m. It should be
changed if it has been damaged, if it is cracked, or
when national regulations require doing so. Do not pull
on the hose or twist it. Keep the hose away from any
parts that may become hot.
A gas-tight seal should be checked as described in
Section B).
Switzerland, Germany, Austria:
The stove should be used with a type of hose suitable
for butane and propane.
Hose length should not exceed 1.20 m. It should be
changed if it has been damaged, if it is cracked, or
when national regulations require doing so. Do not pull
on the hose or twist it. Keep the hose away from any
parts that may become hot.
Connecting the hose: to connect the hose to the stove
union, tighten the hose nut firmly, but without excessive
force, using the two appropriate wrenches:

- 10 mm wrench to tighten the stove inlet union

- 17 mm wrench to tighten the hose wrench
Connect the other end onto the regulator outlet union.
- A gas-tight seal should be checked as described in
Section B).
B - CONNECTING THE GAS CYLINDER
If replacing an empty cylinder, read Section D):
"Removing or changing the gas cylinder".
When installing or removing a gas cylinder, always
operate in an open, very well-ventilated place, never
in the presence of a flame, spark or any other source
of heat (cigarette, electrical appliance, etc.), and away
from other persons or inflammable materials.
- Place the gas cylinder on the ground, behind or next
to the stove.
- Close the tap on the regulator or gas cylinder.
- Screw or push the regulator onto the cylinder or onto
the valve on the gas cylinder.
- Close the valves on the stove by turning the control
knobs clockwise, position ( ) (fig. 1).
- Check that the flexible hose or hose is in place nor-
mally, with no torsion or traction.
- Check that the air holes in the burner tube, close to
the injector, are not obstructed by dust or cobwebs.
Gas leaks
Do not check for leaks using a flame. Use a gas leak
detecting liquid.
- Apply gas leak detecting liquid to the cylinder/regula-
tor/hose/stove unions.
- The adjustment control knobs should remain as set ( ).
- Open the gas supply (valve or lever on the regulator).
- Any gas leaks will be indicated by bubbles.
- Stop the leak by tightening the nuts. Replace any
defective parts. The stove must not be used until all
leaks have been eliminated.
- Close the valve on the gas cylinder.
