Introduction

1.1 Intended use

JOYCE SilkGel nasal masks and full-face masks are used for treating
sleep apnea and for non-invasive and non-life-sustaining ventilation
of patients with respiratory insufficiency. They serve as a connecting
element between the patient and the therapy device.
Use non-vented nasal masks only with an external exhalation valve.
Use non-vented full-face masks only in combination with therapy
devices which have an active exhalation valve.
1.2 Contraindications
Erosions and ulcerations, skin allergies, skin rashes on the face,
pressure points on the face, claustrophobia, anxiety, deformities of
the face or nasopharynx, ingestion of drugs which may induce
vomiting, the necessity for immediate intubation.
You should also observe the contraindications in the instructions for
use for your therapy device.

1.3 Side effects

Blocked nose, dry nose, dry mouth in the morning, feeling of
pressure in the sinuses, irritated mucous membrane, skin rashes,
pressure points in the face, irritating noises when breathing.
