7. Cordless Metz Remote Mode

In the cordless Metz Remote Mode a master flash
unit mounted on the camera controls the amount of
light fired by one or more off-camera slaves with-
out the aid of a cable. The controlling master flash
unit, called the „controller", works in the standard
TTL flash mode (Metz TTL remote mode) or in the
auto mode (Metz auto remote mode).
For system-inherent reasons, the i-TTL flash
mode are not supported. Flash operation with
the secondary reflector (54 MZ-... , 70 MZ-5
and 76 MZ-5) is not possible. The camera's
shutter speed must not be faster than 1/60
sec.
Controllers
The mecablitz 54 MZ-... , 70 MZ-5 and 76 MZ-5
flash units permit cordless flash control in the Metz
Remote Mode, thereby acting as „controllers". The
setting procedure for remote controller operation is
described in the instruction manual for the flash
unit concerned.
Slaves
The flash units mecablitz 28CS-2 digital, 34 CS-2,
34 CS-2 digital, 40 MZ..., 44 MZ-2, 50 MZ..., 54
MZ-... , 70 MZ-... and 76 MZ-5 can be used as
„slaves" in the cordless Metz remote mode. The 40
MZ-..., 44 MZ-..., 54 MZ-... and 70 MZ-4 models
must then be fitted with the slave adapter SCA
3083 digital., whereas the 50 MZ-5, 70 MZ-5 and
76 MZ-5 flash units can be used without a slave
adapter. The setting procedure for slave operation
is described in the manuals for the individual flash
units or the instructions for the SCA 3083 digital
slave adapter.
