Setting the focus /
Dioptre compensation
On the Leica Geovid BRF binoculars, the focus
is set for objects different distances using the
central focusing dial (2).
The two dioptre compensation dials (3/7) are
used to compensate for individual vision defects
for viewing without glasses and for focusing on the
target mark.
Run carefully through the steps described below.
You will then be able to fully utilize the optical
capabilities of the binoculars.
1. Turn both dioptre compensation dials to their
zero positions.
2. While viewing with both eyes, focus on a distant
object using the central focusing dial.
3. Now press the release button (5) to activate the
target.

4. Once the target appears, while continuing to
view with both eyes adjust the right-hand diop-
tre compensation dial (7, red index) so that the
target is in focus in the right-hand optical field.
5. Then, with the target still activated but now
viewing with the right eye only, use the central
focusing dial for fine focusing of the image in
the right-hand tube.
6. Then adjust the image in the left-hand tube to opti-
mum focus using the left-hand dioptre dial (3).
You can read off the set „+" and „-" values on the
dioptre scales (3a/7a).
