that the oil must be changed every 100 working
hours.
SERVICE AND STORAGE
INFREQUENT SERVICE
If the unit is used infrequently, difficult start-
ing may result, to eliminate hard starting, run
the generator at least 30 minutes every 15 days.
Also, if the unit will not be used for some time,
it is a good idea to drain the fuel from the car-
buretor and gas tank.
LONG TERM STORAGE
When the generator set is not being operated
or is being stored more than one month, follow
these instructions:
• Replenish engine oil
to upper level.
• Drain gasoline from
fuel tank line and car-
buretor.
• Pour about one teaspoon of engine oil through
the spark plug hole, pull the recoil starter several
times and replace the plug. Then pull the starter
until you feel piston is on its compression stroke
and leave it in that position. This closes both the
intake and exhaust valves to prevent the inside of
cylinder from rusting.
NOTE: We recommend always using a fuel sta-
bilizer. A fuel stabilizer will minimize the forma-
tion of fuel gum deposits during storage. The
fuel stabilizer can be added to the gasoline in
the fuel tank, or into the gasoline in a storage
container.
MAINTENANCE OF THE AIR FILTER
Remove the filter cover. Clean the filter by fol-
lowing these steps:
· Dip the filter in kero-
sene and press to re-
move the excess.
· Add engine oil to the
filter and press to re-
move the excess.
SPARK PLUG MAINTENANCE
After every 50 hours
of
work
the
spark
plug must be cleaned.
Check the color of the
deposit in the spark
plug terminal, it should
have a tan color.
20
Remove accumulated deposits using a copper
wire brush. Check the spark plug opening, this
should be 0.7 to 0.8 mm.
MAINTENANCE OF THE FUEL FILTER
1. Move the fuel valve to the "CLOSED" posi-
tion, and remove the oil filter cup.
2. Thoroughly clean the oil filter cup (you can
use a compressor, blowing in the direction indi-
cated by the arrow).
3. Firmly attach a new rubber gasket and the oil
filter cup.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
1. Close the fuel valve. Remove the oil filter cup
and drain all the fuel in the oil filter cup.
2. Turn the fuel valve to ON, and drain the fuel
from the tank.
3. Replace the rubber gasket, then screw the oil
filter cup.
4. Remove the screw cap to remove gasoline
from the insulation.
5. Remove the lubricant cap and the plug that is
used up by the oil.
6. Equip the plug that drains the oil.
7. Fill with enough lubricant to reach the maxi-
mum mark on the dipstick.
8. Pull the starter handle lightly until it hardens.
