Electrical connection

/
Observe the correct operating voltage (see "Technical Data").
/
Never place the power plug in the water.
/
Connect the pump to a properly installed electrical socket (in compliance with the power supply
company regulations) protected by at least a 10 A (slow-blowing) fuse.
/
For submersible pumps of protection classification I, all exposed conductive parts are connected
with a protective earth conductor. Before the pump is put into operation, an electrically skilled
person must check that the protective earth cable is properly connected.
/
When operating pumps of protection class I, the following applies according to IEC 335-2-41:1984,
Amendment 1:1990: Pumps of protection class I intended for use in swimming pools or garden
ponds must be equipped with a residual-current device (max. 30 mA) in the supply line. The pump
may not be operated if any persons are in the pool.
/
Temperatures higher than those permitted cause the pump to be shut off by the temperature
limiter. After the temperature limiter is triggered, disconnect the pump from the electric system
before correcting the cause of the fault, otherwise it will switch on automatically once cooled down.

Set up/installation

For portable set-up:
Set up the pump on solid ground. When setting up in muddy or sandy ground, the pump should be
operated while suspended in the medium, by a rope or chain, or be placed on a large base plate. Do not
suspend the pump by the cable.
For fixed installation:
Install the pump in compliance with DIN EN 12056-4 regulations (e.g. route the discharge line with a
loop above the locally defined backflow level).
For automatic cut-in/cut-out:
The pump has a built-in automatic level control that switches on the pump when the water level rises to
145 mm and switches off when it drops to 50 mm.
For continuous operation:
The Hand/Auto switch can be set to manual operation for continuous use in transportable applications.
In that case the pump does not cut out automatically and must be protected from running dry.
