the power cord to an AC power outlet.

Connecting a Peripheral
USB Device
Follow the procedure below to connect a peripheral USB
device to one of the designated USB ports inside the
unit. For details on connecting a specific device, refer to
the manual that came with the device.
Supported USB devices
The following peripheral USB devices can be connected
to the internal USB ports on the UPA-PC500:
• UP-DR150 (Sony Digital Photo Printer)
• UP-D75 (Sony Digital Photo Printer)
• Flatbed scanner
Notes
• To avoid causing a fire or damaging the unit, never
attempt to connect an unsupported device. For more
details about the types of devices supported by the
unit, consult your dealer.
• Up to three UP-DR150 printers can be connected to
the UPA-PC500.
• Up to one UP-D75 printer can be connected to the
UPA-PC500.
To connect a USB device

Open the cabinet.
For details, see "To open the cabinet" on page 6.

Connect one end of the USB cable to one of the four
designated USB ports inside the unit, and wire it
through the right-hand hole at the rear of the
cabinet.
Notes
• The four designated USB ports for connecting
peripheral USB devices are shown by 1 under
"Internal Connectors" on page 7.
• When wiring and bundling cables, leave some
slack inside the cabinet to prevent a sudden pull
on the cable from disconnecting the cable or
damaging the connector.
• We recommend that you wire all device cables
through the holes at the rear of the unit and bundle
them properly with cable ties.

Connect the other end of the USB cable to a USB
port on the device.

Turn on the peripheral USB device.

Close the cabinet.

Notes
• Connect peripheral USB devices directly to the USB
ports on the unit. Operation through a USB hub is not
guaranteed.
• If a message prompting you to install drivers appears
when you connect supported peripheral devices to the
unit, contact your dealer.
• When the UP-DR150/UP-D75 is connected to the
UPA-PC500 and powered on, the following dialog
appears:
"A change of device connection has been recognized.
Please wait for a while.", and "The connection has
been made in the system."
Do not operate the system while the dialog is
displayed.
• The UP-DR150/UP-D75 cannot be recognized by the
system while background printing is being executed.
