BASIC FUNCTIONS

Antenna
IMPORTANT: Never transmit without antenna! Damages are likely to occur
to the power amplifier.
Due to german governmental regulations, the antenna has to be fixed with
the version TeCom-DB-C.
For the TeCom-CB-H, place the base of the antenna onto the antenna jack
(19) and turn clockwise until antenna fits thight.

Battery Pack

The scope of delivery contains the Li-Ion battery pack APP-TeCom-DB-C-H (18).
On the outside of the battery pack, three metal contacts and the attach-
ment for the belt clip are present.
Take the radio into your hand, the rear facing upside. Place the battery pack
(18) with the metal contact plates at the bottom onto the radio. The distance
of the upper side of the battery pack and the radio top should be 1.5 cm.
Now, press the battery pack (18) with both thumbs against the radio and
push it upwards until the lock, located at the bottom, snaps in.
To remove the battery pack (18), push the closure of the lock with one
thumb in direction of the arrow, printed onto the closure, and push the bat-
tery pack with the other thumb out of the casing.
Charging of the Battery Pack
The Li-Ion battery pack APP-TeCom-DB/C/H (1600 mAh/7,4 V) is charged
with the charging cable or the cigarette lighter adapter. Please note that
the battery pack (18) has to be charged approximately 4-6 hours prior to
the first use.
Turn the radio off during charging procedure. Connect the power adapter
with a 220 V plug. Place the plug of the cable into the charging jack (17)
(DC IN 16V), which is located on the TeCom-DB-C/-H on the right side
under the ear-/microphone jack (16). The radio turns automatically on and
the battery status symbol in the upper right corner starts blinking. As soon
as the battery pack (18) is completely charged, the battery symbol lights
constantly. Please remove the cable after completion of the charging cycle.
Do not leave the cable connected to the radio after completion of the char-
ging cycle since damages to the radio and the battery pack could result.
Once the capacity of the battery pack falls below a critical level, a warning
tone is audible.
The optional charging base station SLG-TeCom-DB/C/H (incl. power adap-
ter), the battery pack can be charged independently, without being con-
nected to the radio.

On / Off
On top of the radio, the rotary twin selector (20) is located.
The upper part of this twin rotary selector turns the radio on/off and regula-
tes the volume. The lower part serves for channel, function and setting se-
lection, depending on the selected mode.
To turn on the TeCom-DB, turn the upper part of the rotary twin selector (2)
clockwise. To turn the radio off, turn the upper part of the rotary twin se-
lector counter-clockwise.

Volume

The upper part of the rotary twin selector (2), which is located on the top of
the radio, controls the volume, beside the on/off function.
Hint: after turning the radio on, use the monitor function to set the optimal
volume level. The monitor function deactives the squelch and the basic
noise of the frequency is audible.

Channel Selection

The lower part of the rotary twin selector (3) serves for channel selection.
It is also possible to enter the desired channel directly via keypad. Enter
the channel number in a three-digit-format, e.g. 0-0-1.

Transmission

The radio operates automatically in receipt mode.
Upon pressing the PTT key (13), the radio switches automatically into
transmit mode. The PTT key (13) is located on the left side of the radio.
The control LED (22), which is located at the top of the radio, lights up red.
For best signal transmission, talk into the microphone (4) at a medium vo-
lume level with a distance of approximately 10 cm.
After release of the PTT key (13), the radio returns automatically into re-
ceipt mode.

Reception

Upon receipt of a signal, the control LED lights (22) up green and the sig-
nal is audible if the signal strength is greater than the set squelch level.
Upon receipt of unmatching CTCSS-DCS coded signals, the control LED
lights (22) up green but the speaker remains unmuted.
