3.5.6 CONTAINING FLAPS
This accessory is applied to the side of the equipment and ensures
that the clods of earth and kept within the area, preventing them
from falling onto the cultivated part or the part still to be worked
Before transiting on the road, withdraw the fl aps within the boun-
ds of the machine and block them into place using the bolts, as
shown in Fig.18.
Danger of cutting hands while working and handling the
equipment.
3.6 BEFORE STARTING WORK
Before starting the seeding operation grease all parts indicated by
transfer nr. 9 ('GREASE') at page 27 of this leafl et.
3.7 DURING WORK
Always respect the following rules for successful sowing:
- Keep the hydraulic hoist in the position that allows the
equipment to work parallel to the ground.
- Every now and then check that the screws are tight enough;
in particular, tighten the nuts of the vehicle wheels. For new
machines or after repair, tighten all the screws after the fi rst
10 ha.
- Check the safety of the tensioner bolts for integrity and da-
mage. Check the safety pins (integrity, damage) and replace
them if necessary.
- Check for possible defects in the pins of the upper and lower
arm and of the chains with split pins.
- Check the condition of the bearings and the gaskets: da-
mage and wound-round material (metal wires, wires, plant
residues, etc.) should be eliminated immediately.
- Check the integrity of the bearings.
- Check that the locking device for transport is working pro-
perly.
- Check the tightness of the hydraulic system, and replace de-
fective hoses immediately; use only original spare parts.
- Keep the warning stickers on the machine in legible condi-
tion.
- The use of non-original or stronger pins may lead to serious
damage to the equipment.
- Do not drive in curves when the machine is planted in the
ground and do not work with the reverse gear engaged. For
changes of direction or forward-reverse gear changes, the
equipment must always be above ground level.
- Maintain a work speed compatible with the type of soil and
tilling in order to avoid breakages or damage.

3.8 ADJUSTING THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
1) At the moment of connecting the hydraulic tubes to the
hydraulic system of the tractor, make sure that the hydrau-
lic systems of the operating machine and the tractor are
not under pressure.
2) For the operative hydraulic connections between tractor
and operating machine, the sockets and plugs should be
marked with colours to distinguish them, to avoid them
being used wrongly. There would be a danger of accident
if the connections were to be swapped round.
3) The hydraulic system is under high pressure; because
of the accident risk, when searching for leakage points
special auxiliary instruments should be used.
4) Not to never carry out the search losses with the fi ngers
or the hands. The liquids that exit from the holes can be
nearly not visible.
5) During transport by road the hydraulic connections betwe-
en tractor and operating machine should be disconnected
and secured to the support provided.
6) Do not use vegetable oils under any circumstance. These
could cause a risk of damage to the cylinder gaskets.
7) The operating pressures of the hydraulic system should
be between 100 bars and 180 bars.
8) Never exceed the indicated hydraulic system pressure
levels.
9) Check that the quick hook-ups are coupled correctly; parts
of the system could get damaged if they are not.
10) Oil escaping at high pressure can cause skin injury with
the risk of serious wounds and infection. Call a doctor
immediately if such an incident occurs. If the oil with sur-
gical means is not removed quickly, can take place serious
allergies and/or infections. Therefore, the installation of
hydraulic components in the tractor driver's cab is strictly
forbidden. All the components of the system should be
positioned carefully to avoid parts being damage during
use of the equipment.
11) In case of participation on the hydraulic system, to un-
load the hydraulic pressure carrying all the hydraulic
commandos in all the positions some times after to have
extinguished the motor.
12) Before carrying out checking operations, maintenance or
adjustment on the hydraulic system, the operator must put
on suitable PPEs*.
* - Summary of personal Protection Equipment (PPE) to be used
during all of the machine´s operating phases
13) When the hydraulic tubes are not connected to the tractor,
they must be placed in the adequate holder (Fig.19).
The hydraulic system is supplied without oil.
Before use, it is essential to ensure that all of the hydraulic cylin-
ders are made to move in both directions until the hoses and the
cylinders fi ll up with oil. Operations on the hydraulic system must
be carried out in absence of pressure and with the equipment
resting on the ground.
