Introduction to the SPCV340/341
The SPCV340 Audio Expander enables pre- / post-event audio recording and live
audio (listen/talk). The device includes an integrated microphone and speaker, four
inputs and one output (SPCV340: Open collector output/ SPCV341: External
amplifier output). It also has an interface to connect a maximum of three audio
satellites (SPCV310 and SPCV410).

Mounting Instructions
To ensure good acoustics, please note the following points:
Mount 2 to 3 m above floor level.
Maintain adequate distance from noise sources (ventilation openings, fans
etc.).
Direct towards the centre of the space to be monitored.
Do not mount on vibrating surfaces.
The housing can be mounted flat, or at a 45° angle. Always use two mounting
points which are directly above one another.
You must always use one of the attachment points on the tamper
bracket (Fig. 2, item 6).
Installation
Connecting Cables
1. Insert the cable through a cable entry hole in the base (Fig. 2, item 1).
2. Connect the individual wires to the screw terminals as in the following table:

Wiring the X-BUS Interface
The X-BUS interface provides connection of expanders and keypads to the SPC
controller. The X-BUS can be wired in a number of different configurations
depending on the installation requirements.
The audio expander does not support multi-drop configuration.
Note: Maximum system cable length = number of expanders and keypads in the
system x maximum distance for cable type.

device is not wired back to the controller.

Please refer to SPC Configuration Manual of connected controller for further
details of wiring, shielding, specifications and limitations.
Wiring the Satellites
Tamper wiring between the audio expander and satellites must be done in series,
so that a disconnect at any point in the loop will be detected by the expander.
Audio wiring between the audio expander and satellites must be done in parallel.
All the A+ pins must be connected together, and likewise all the A- pins. A twisted
core pair, at least 0.6 mm in diameter, is recommended.
Note that the series connection for tamper makes use of the NC terminal. The
audio is connected in parallel.
Note: Maximum of 400 m between devices. The following cable types are
recommended:
IYSTY 2 × 2 × 0.6 mm (min.)
UTP cat 5, solid core
Belden 9829
Tamper Jumper Setting
See Fig. 3, item 4. The jumper block has three possible settings:
No jumper fitted: Tamper detection for both expander and satellites is enabled.
Jumper in positions 1-2: Tamper detection for expander only.
Jumper in positions 2-3: Tamper detection for both expander and satellites is
disabled.
LED Functionality
In Full Engineer mode, the LED flashes slowly if the expander is connected to X-
BUS in a ring. It flashes fast if the X-BUS is not in a ring configuration and is the
last expander in a spur.
In normal mode, the LED is on to indicate that the microphone is being used for
live streaming.
Closing the Housing
1. Hook the top of the cover into the base.
2. Push downward to engage the lug with the corresponding recess.
3. Ensure the tamper spring fits in the spring holder (Fig. 2, item 5).
