8. Faults and how to remedy them

Fault
Baby unit or
parent unit does
not work
Loud whistling
Parent unit is
beeping
Connection
indicator 18 has
lit up red
No sound from
the parent unit
If these hints do not solve the problem you
can try to clear the fault as follows:
1. Take the battery out of the parent unit.
2. Unplug the mains adapters from their
power sockets.
3. Wait a few minutes.
4. Replace the battery and plug the mains
adapters back in.
Cause
No power supply
Battery of parent unit is empty
The unit is not switched on
The baby unit and parent unit
are too far apart, or the signal is
being blocked by solid walls or
other electrical equipment
Feedback due to the parent unit
and baby unit being too close
together
Connection to the baby unit has
been lost
Problem with the power supply Check the power supply (see
The parent unit is out of range
Volume is muted
VOX function is set too low
Set up the power supply (see
"4.4 Power supply" on page 34)
Charge the battery (see "4.4 Power
supply" on page 34)
Switch it on (see "4.1 Connecting the
parent unit" on page 33 and
"4.2 Connecting the baby unit" on page
33)
Reduce the distance or place the parent
unit somewhere else
Increase the distance to at least 2 – 3 m
Reduce the volume and the VOX level
on the parent unit if you are in the
immediate vicinity of the baby unit (see
"6.8 Using the VOX function to adjust
the transmission sensitivity" on page 40
and "6.5 Adjusting the volume control"
on page 39).
