9. Fitting Instructions (See Figs. 7 to 11)
IMPORTANT:
• Do not cut tunnel (C, Fig. 1) of cat flap.
• To check that your cat's microchip is correctly positioned and functioning, we
strongly recommend you program the cat flap for all your cats before
installation (See Section 3). Then check the cat's microchip operates the catch
(D, Fig. 1) when the cat's head and cat flap are positioned as shown in Fig. 2.
• We do not recommend this cat flap is used with the combination of metal
panels and FDXA 10 digit microchips (normally fitted in the U.S. only).
• For metal doors thicker than 35mm (1
• For metal doors it is essential to retune the cat flap after fitting (see below).
Metal Panels (including plastic / UPVC doors)
Doors constructed with metal panels may reduce the range of the microchip reader.
You may test for metal panels by drilling a small trial hole in the middle of the intended
cat flap location.
For metal panels thicker than 35mm (1
(available separately) with a circular cut out.
For metal panels up to 35mm (1

After fitting, ensure the flap is tuned to the metal panel by pressing the PROGRAM
button (H) for 5 seconds until LED (A) lights. After 10 seconds press the PROGRAM
button again to complete retuning.
Wood / Plastic Door Panels
9.1 Place the exterior frame in desired position on panel and draw round the outside
of the tunnel section as shown in Fig. 7. We recommend the bottom of the hole
is approximately level with your pet's stomach.
9.2 Use an electric jigsaw to cut 2mm (
cut hole square to the door, particularly with thicker doors. Ensure frames are
free-fitting in hole.

Walls / Glass Panels
For easy installation you will require an adapter kit available from your cat flap supplier
or direct from Pet Mate (Product Ref. 361).
10. Troubleshooting
10.1 Red LED (A) flashing
• 1 flash every 30 seconds indicates need to replace alkaline batteries.
• 2 flashes every 30 seconds indicates cleaning required (See Section 8).
10.2 Flap does not open in response to programmed I.D. Disc or microchip
• Check 4 WAY lock is set to permit access in the chosen direction.
• Check catch (D, Fig. 1) moves freely up and down with cat's head positioned
as in Fig. 2.
• Check I.D. Disc, if used, is correctly fitted to cat's collar.
• If possible, try operation with another programmed I.D. Disc / microchip to
ascertain if there is a fault with a particular I.D. Disc / microchip.
• For metal panels over 35mm (1
with adapter kit and circular cut out.
• For metal panels check cat flap has been retuned after fitting (See Section 9).
• Clean cat detector lenses and tunnel (See Section 8).
• Check batteries are correctly orientated and not in need of replacement (See
Section 6).
• Check cat flap is mounted at correct height (See Section 9).
• If all else fails, remove one battery and wait a minimum of 5 minutes. Refit
battery and then check if flap functions correctly. If not perform a FACTORY
RESET (See Section 7) before reprogramming (See Section 3).
