Installation

Placement
Always place the panel in such a place that the skipper has a good
view of it.
If the panel is installed outdoors and the system is not in use, close
the watertight closing cap. This prevents water, salt and dirt from en-
tering the key switch when the key is missing.
When the panel is installed low in the cockpit, place the panel in such
a way that no damage can be caused to the key (e.g. by feet).
Please note that the panel is only waterproof on the control side. The
back of the motor panel should be installed in a well protected and
ventilated area. Do not install the panel in a place where strong vibra-
tions could occur.
The panel must be placed in a flat plate.
• Make a hole of the correct size and fit the panel. Make sure the
gasket is properly positioned between the engine panel and the
bulkhead.

Connecting CAN bus (control current) cables
The CAN-bus is a chain to which the E-Line motor and panels are con-
nected.
The 12 volt battery is connected to the key switch (1). The key switch
takes care of switching the power supply of the CAN-bus chain on
and off (3).
Through the switched power supply (2), 12 V/15 A, the cooling water
pump is switched on and off.

The CAN bus power supply must always be connected to
12 Volt (≥10 V, ≤16 V) . Use the E-Drive MPE1KB key switch as
power supply .
As required by international standards, all neutral (negative)
conductors of the DC system must be connected to one
central point . This prevents not only dangerous situations and
corrosion problems, but also error messages in the CAN bus
system .
Never connect more than one power supply to the
VETUS CAN line .
See diagram page

Consult the relevant E-Drive installation manual for the detailed
CAN-BUS diagrams.
