OPERATION PRINCIPLE
Water coming from the pool is automatically diverted by the selector valve toward the upper part of the filtering element (sand). The water
passes downwards through the sand and the filtering element retains all the impurities and waste. The filtered water is returned to the pool,
through the central tube and the multidirectional flap.
INSTALLATION
Follow these steps to install the complete filtering system (pump, sand tank and multidirectional flap).
The filtering system should be installed at more than 3.5 m form the pool (NF C 15-100) and preferably, at less than 0.5 m below the pool water
surface, otherwise the pump may be deactivated.
The filter pump should be protected from splashing of water, from floods, and from humidity, in a dry, well-ventilated place. Otherwise, the
metallic pieces and the pump motor may become deteriorated.
Use and maintenance of the filtering group involves evacuation of used water: therefore make sure there is a drainage system where the filter
is installed.
The suction tube should have the least quantity possible of curves and elbows. There should not be any air trapped in the suction tube. The
pump should be installed on a solid and horizontal base and should be correctly anchored to this base.
The weight of the plumbing elements and the connections should be independently supported and not by the pump.
START-UP OF THE FILTER
Bleed all air from the filter and the tubes.
In the case that the pump is situated below the pool water level, the pump is primed when the suction and impulsion flaps are open.
If the pump is not situated below the pool water level, completely fill the water tubes with
water. If you cannot fully prime the pump, check the «resolving problems» table.
Make sure that all the suction points and flaps are open before starting the pump to avoid it being damaged. OBSERVATION: During the start-
up, the pump is progressively primed. The priming time will depend on the suction height and the length of the filtering tubes.
1 - Make sure an adequate quantity of sand is introduced into the tank and that all the connections are made and there are no leaks. 2 - Make
sure that the water reaches the pump without any obstacles. Never start the pump in dry. Starting the pump in dry can damage the seals,
which will give way to leaks and flooding.
3 - Press the selector valve lever and situate it in «wash» position. The water should circulate via the selector valve outlet marked «WASTE».
Switch on the pump and let it operate for at least 1 minute. The pump will progressively prime itself and the sand will clean itself of impurities.
4 - Stop the pump and place the selector valve in the «rinse» position. Start the pump and leave it running until the water of the turbidity
screen is clear.
5 - Stop the pump and place the selector valve in the «filter» position.
6 - Increase the initial pressure in the pressure gauge until the filter is clean. As long as the pressure of the pressure gauge is 0.2 bars above the
initial pressure it should backwash against the current. (Consult the «Manipulation of the multidirectional valve» chapter).
MAINTENANCE
1. As long as the pressure of the pressure gauge is 0.2 bars above the initial pressure it should backwash against the current. (Consult the
«Manipulation of the multidirectional flap» chapter).
2. The pump pre-filter basket should be regularly checked and cleaned.
3. Remove the lid and take the pre-filter basket out.
4. Remove the waste and clean the basket if necessary with a hosepipe.
5. Check the condition of the lid seal and lubricate with silicone if necessary. Change if it is damaged.
6. Re-install the basket.
7. Position the 'O' ring correctly.
8. Replace the lid by only tightening it with one hand.
9. Start the pump.
10. In those climates where the pump is exposed to ice and frost, it should be protected.
11. In the case that the pump is not used during the winter, we recommend storing it in a dry place. Do not replace the emptying plug and
store in a dry place, for example, in the pre-filter basket.
12. When the pump is re-started, make sure that all the seals are in good condition. Lubricate them if necessary and change them if they are
not in good condition.
13. Check that the motor axle turns freely before starting it.
WINTERING
1 - Empty the hydraulic circuit of the pool.
2 - Completely empty the sand tank by unscrewing the plug at the bottom of the same. Leave the lug out during the entre winter. 3 - Place
the selector valve lever between two positions to let the seal dry.
4 - Empty the pump.
5 - Make sure that the pump is not humid while it is not in use. Otherwise, the metallic pieces and the pump motor may become deteriorated.
