Safety instructions

1 Area of applicability

These safety instructions apply to the Ex separator VEGATRENN 149A Ex according to the EC type
approval certificate PTB 00 ATEX 2061 with 2nd supplement (certification number on the type label).

2 General information

The Ex separator VEGATRENN 149A Ex is an electrical associated apparatus that serves as power
supply for intrinsically safe 4 ... 20 mA/HART sensors. In addition, it ensures safe electrical
separation of the intrinsically safe circuit from the non-intrinsically safe circuit. The sensor signal
current is transmitted linearly to the output.
If the VEGATRENN 149A Ex is used for power supply of intrinsically safe sensors that are installed
and operated in hazardous areas, the general Ex mounting instructions EN 60079-14 as well as these
safety instructions have to be observed.
The operating instructions as well as the valid Ex mounting regulations and standards for electrical
equipment must be observed.
The installation of explosion-endangered systems must always be carried out by qualified personnel.
