Crumbling flues, built with unsuitable material, are illegal and can compromise the efficient operation of the fireplace.
A perfect draft is given mainly by a flue free from obstacles such as bottlenecks, horizontal paths, corners; any displacements
of the axis must have an inclined path with a maximum angle of 45° with respect to the vertical, better still if only 30°. These
displacements must be carried out preferably in proximity of the chimney pot.
The flue gas connection between the firebox and the flue pipe must have the same section as the flue outlet
of the fireplace. The flue connection must be tight and the use of flexible extendible metal pipes is forbidden.
The changes of direction with respect to the smoke exhaust of the appliance must be made with elbows not greater than 45°
with respect to the vertical.
The chimney cowl must be of the windproof type with internal section equivalent to the one of chimney and the passage
section of the exhaust smoke at least twice the one inside the flue pipe.
To avoid inconveniences in forced draft, each furnace should have its own independent fumes evacuation system. In case
of multiple flues on the roof it is appropriate that the other are at least 2 meters away and that the chimney of the fireplace
overhands the others by at least 40 cm. If the chimneys are side by side, provide partitions.
In Fig. 5.6c (flat room; B = technical volume) and Fig. 5.6d (sloping roof) advice is displayed regarding the minimum distances
and the positioning of the chimney cowls.

If the chimney that you want to use for the installation was previously connected to other stoves or fireplaces, it is necessary
to carry out a thorough cleaning in order to prevent anomalous operations and to avert the danger of fire of the unburned
matter deposited on the inner walls of the chimney.
In normal operating conditions the cleanliness of the chimney should be carried out at least once a year unless different
regulations.
