Adjusting the sharpening cassette position
1. Slide the Sharpening Cassette Release Button (6) to allow the Sharpening Cassette (3) to rotate
from parked position.
2. Rotate the Sharpening Cassette (3) clockwise to position A for sharpening or position B for
grinding polishing (Image B)
3. Once the correct position is selected release the Sharpening Cassette Release Button (6) to lock
the Sharpening Cassette (3) in place
Fitting an abrasive belt
WARNING: Always ensure that the tool is switched 'OFF' before fitting or removing abrasive
belts.
Note: DO NOT continue to use worn, torn or heavily clogged abrasive belts. Ensure foreign objects,
such as nails and screws, are removed from the workpiece before starting to sharpen or grind.
Set Multi-function tool to the sharpen position by sliding the Sharpening Cassette Release Button
(6) and then turning the Sharpening Cassette (3) to position A (Image B) (Fig. III)
1. Push Tensioner (4) down then turn ¼ turn clockwise to lock in place (Fig. IV)
2. Remove the old Belt (5)
3. Align the new Belt (5) so that it sits centrally on all 3 Pulleys (4) (7) (9) (Fig. IV)
WARNING: Observe the rotation direction as indicated on the belt and the tool.
4. Turn the Tensioner (4) ¼ turn anti-clockwise to release and tighten the Belt (5) (Fig. IV)
Note: use the Belt Tracking Adjustment Knob (8) on the Sharpening Cassette (3) to adjust belt
tracking. Turn the Knob (8) clockwise to align to the left and anti-clockwise to align to the right
(Fig. X)
5. Rotate the Belt (5) by hand a few times, to ensure the new Belt (5) sits centrally on the Pulleys (4)
(7) (9) (Fig. IX). If the Belt (5) slides off the Pulleys (4) (7) (9) whilst rotating, start over with step 1
6. Switch the tool ON (see 'Operation-Switching 'ON' and 'OFF'), to determine if the Belt (5) runs
smoothly. Switch the tool 'OFF' and start again with step 1, should the belt (5) slide off the
Pulleys (4) (7) (9)
WARNING: Take care to regularly clean out the build-up of dust around the Pulleys (4) (7)
(9) and not to let the Belt (5) wear down completely before replacing it. Failure to observe these
precautionary measures can lead to damage to the Pulleys (4) (7) (9) and bearing. Such damage is
not covered by warranty.
Fitting a sharpening guide
1. Install correct Belt (5) for application
2. Select the correct Sharpening Guide (27) (28) for the application
3. Selecting the 'Sharpening' position for the Sharpening Cassette (3) (Image B)
4. Slide the Sharpening Guide (27) (28) down onto the Sharpening Cassette (3) until the Channel is
located onto the Locator Nuts and the lug is in its groove (Fig. V) (Fig VI) (Fig. VII)

Dust extraction

WARNING: Always ensure that the tool is switched 'OFF' before attaching or removing any
accessories.
WARNING: Always use the Multi-funtional Sharpener with a suitable dust extraction system,
especially if the dust created contains harmful substances, such as particles from old paint, varnish,
surface coatings etc. Always dispose of harmful dust according to laws and regulations.
WARNING: Take special care to guard against harmful and toxic dusts when grinding
lead-based painted surfaces and metals, particularly if you are unsure about the exact substances
involved. All persons entering the work area must wear a mask specially designed for protection
against the toxic dust and fumes involved. Children and pregnant women MUST NOT enter the work
area. DO NOT eat, drink or smoke in the work area.
WARNING: Using the tool without dust extraction may expose the operator to harmful dust,
and may lead to a build-up of dust on internal components, shortening the tool's service life. Such
damage is not covered by warranty

Operation
WARNING: Always use adequate protective equipment, including eye protection, respiratory
and hearing protection, when working with this tool.
WARNING: DO NOT touch the moving abrasive belt (5).
Note: ALWAYS use clamps to secure your workpiece to the workbench wherever possible.
Switching 'ON' and 'OFF'
WARNING: DO NOT switch the tool 'ON' or 'OFF' whilst under grinding load, as this will greatly
decrease the service life of the ON/OFF Switch.

This tool has a 3 position power switch feature.
• '0' Tool is switched 'OFF'
• 'I' ON constant- for grinding
• 'II' ON intermittent – for sharpening
When using the constant 'I' setting the tool will remain 'ON' when the ON/OFF Switch (10) is
released
When using the intermittent 'II' setting the tool will switch 'OFF' when the ON/OFF Switch (10) is
released
Caution: Do not use tool constantly for more than 1 minute and for more than 20 minutes per
hour as this may lead to damage to the internal mechanism of the tool which will not be covered
by warranty
Sharpening
WARNING: ALWAYS place the tool on its Rubber Feet (16) on a secure, flat surface when
sharpening unsecured blades to prevent slipping and causing serious injury
Sharpening Kitchen Knives (smooth edged):
1. Disconnect tool from Charger (26)
2. Install Belt P600 (23)
3. Select the 'sharpening A' position on the Sharpening Cassette (3) (Image B)
4. Place the tool on a secure, flat surface with Rubber Feet (16) in contact with surface to prevent
slipping whilst using
5. Attach the 20º Blade Sharpening Guide (28) to the Sharpening Cassette (3) (Fig. V) (Fig. VII)
6. Insert knife into Guide Slot A (20) so that the side of the blade is firmly against the outside edge
of the Guide Slot (Image C)
7. Insert the knife all the way into the handle of the knife (Image C)
8. With the knife in the guide (28) hold the Handle (1) firmly with one hand and press and hold the
OFF/ON Switch (10) in the 'II' position to start the tool (Image A)
9. Pull the knife steadily through the Guide (28) keeping a constant speed and the knife pressed
against the outer edge of the Guide (28) in constant contact with the Belt (5)(Image D)
Note: An 8" knife should take 2 seconds per stroke
10. R elease the ON/OFF Switch (10)
Note: Releasing the ON/OFF Switch (10) whilst in position 'II' will automatically turn 'OFF' the tool
and the ON/OFF Switch (10) will return to the 'OFF'position (Image A)
11. R epeat the process with knife inserted into Guide Slot B (30) (Image E)
12. C arry out 5 strokes of the knife per side to make the knife sharp
Note: Optional: the knife edge can now be honed using Belt P1200 (24) or Belt P2500 (25), (5
strokes per side) for sharper results
Note: Once sharp when re-sharpening use Belt P600 (23), (1-2 strokes per side) then Belt P1200 or
Belt P2500 (5 strokes per side)
Sharpening Outdoor Knives (pocket knives, hunting knives, combination serrated blades,
filet knives, etc.):
Pocket knives, Hunting knives:
1. Disconnect tool from Charger (26)
2. Install Belt P600 (23)
3. Select the 'sharpening A' position on the Sharpening Cassette (3) (Image B)
4. Place the tool on a secure, flat surface with Rubber Feet (16) in contact with surface to prevent
slipping whilst using
5. Attach the Multi Blade Sharpening Guide (27) to the Sharpening Cassette (3) (Fig. V) (Fig. VI)
6. Insert knife into Guide Slot C (17) so that the side of the blade is firmly against the outside edge
of the Guide Slot (Image F)
7. Insert the knife all the way into the handle of the knife. (Image F)
Note: If the blade has serrations insert it up to the first serration
8. With the knife in the guide (27) hold the Handle (1) firmly with one hand and press and hold the
OFF/ON Switch (10) in the 'II' position to start the tool (Image A)
9. Pull the knife steadily through the Guide (27) keeping a constant speed and the knife pressed
against the outer edge of the Guide (27) in constant contact with the Belt (5)
Note: An 4" knife should take 1 second per stroke
10. R elease the ON/OFF Switch (10)
