Possible cause
Plug fuse blown
Circuit breaker tripped
Tool fault
Wheel out of balance
Wheel loose
Wheel damaged
Tool not fully secured to workbench
Tool has been directly bolted to metal workbench or rubber
feet missing or damaged
Tool incorrectly set
Worn or incorrectly made belt
Belt slipping
Duty cycle not being followed
This is a high vibration tool and fittings can work loose
over time
Worn internal parts or other fault
Solution
Replace fuse
Reset circuit breaker
Have the tool serviced by an authorised Silverline service centre
Dress wheel
Turn off immediately and re-tighten wheel fittings
Turn off immediately and replace the wheel
Check and tighten bolts and fittings
Fit a vibration-reducing material between the tool and the workbench surface.
A small piece of wood would be satisfactory
See 'Changing the belt' section
Replace belt
See 'Changing the belt' for tension adjustment
Ensure the duty cycle is followed with a maximum of 30 minutes use per hour. If the
tool still gets excessively hot allow further cooling time as other factors including
ambient temperature may increase the required cooling time. Running the tool well
within the duty cycle may increase the working life of the tool
Check all fittings are correctly tightened. If any fittings are repeatedly
becoming loose check the fittings order is correct and add spring washers
or lock nuts if necessary
Contact an authorised service centre
