Making a cut
WARNING: Ensure you have made all necessary adjustments before commencing the cut.
IMPORTANT: ALWAYS clamp your workpiece securely.
1. Rest the Adjustable Fence (5) on the workpiece
IMPORTANT: It is crucial that the Adjustable Fence (5) remains completely flat on the workpiece, for
the entire duration of the cut.
2. Ensure that the blade is not in contact with the workpiece, or any other object
3. Switch the tool ON (see 'Switching ON & OFF')
4. Allow the motor to reach full speed
5. Slowly push the blade into the workpiece by applying forward pressure to the Rear Handle (1)
6. Once the cutter has reached the set depth, slowly withdraw the blade from the workpiece until
the blade is clear
7. Switch the tool OFF
Joining workpieces
• When the slots in both workpieces have been cut, the workpieces can be joined together:
1. Apply a suitable glue to both slots
2. Insert the biscuit dowel into the slot of one workpieces
3. Slot the other workpiece on to the exposed biscuit dowel
4. Clamp the workpieces together, and wait until the glue has dried (refer to the glue
manufacturer's instructions)
Joining workpieces with multiple connections
• If joining workpieces when small adjustments may be necessary:
1. Cut a slot as big as one biscuit into the first workpiece
2. Apply glue and place a biscuit into the slot
3. Cut a longer slot into the other workpiece (see image)
4. Position the workpieces and clamp together until the glue has dried (refer to the glue
manufacturer's instructions)
• If joining pieces with multiple biscuit dowel connections:
1. Carry out multiple individual cuts on both workpieces
2. Apply glue and place the biscuits in alternate slots on both workpieces.
3. Slot the two workpieces together and clamp in position until the glue has dried
(refer to the glue manufacturer's instructions)

Maintenance
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying out any inspection,
maintenance or cleaning.
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate loose over time
• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear. Repairs should be
carried out by an authorised Silverline service centre. This advice also applies to extension cords
used with this tool
Changing the Blade
WARNING: ALWAYS ensure the device is disconnected from the power supply when changing
accessories, and ALWAYS wear cut-proof gloves when handling blades.
1. Turn the device so that the Blade Cover (18) is accessible and facing upward
2. Loosen the 4 cover screws using a screwdriver (not supplied)
3. Slide, then lift the Cover off the tool
4. Press the Spindle Lock Button (16) and rotate the Blade slowly by hand, until you feel the locking
mechanism engage. Hold the Spindle Lock Button
5. Use the included hex key to loosen the blade retaining screw by rotating the screw anticlockwise
6. Remove the retaining screw, flange and Blade
7. Insert a new Blade of identical type and dimensions (see 'Specification')
WARNING: ALWAYS observe the direction of rotation, as indicated by the arrow
on the gear housing.
8. Refit the blade flange and retaining screw, and retighten clockwise with the hex key
9. Release the Spindle Lock Button, refit the Blade Cover and tighten the cover screws
Fine adjustment of cutting depth
• Fine adjustment of the cutting depth can be made using the Depth Calibration Knob (15)
Note: If unsure about how to carry out calibration DO NOT attempt. Instead have calibration carried
out at an authorised Silverline service centre.
1. Loosen the retaining nut with a suitable spanner
2. Turn the Depth Adjustment Knob to adjust as required
Note: One full rotation clockwise will result in a 1mm change of cutting depth.
3. Tighten the retaining nut once the adjustments are made
4. Carry out test cuts on a scrap piece of material to ensure the tool is calibrated correctly
Calibrating the Angle Scale
• Fine adjustment of the Angle Scale (7) can be made by adjusting the Scale itself
Note: If unsure about how to carry out calibration DO NOT attempt. Instead have calibration carried
at an authorised Silverline service centre.
Checking the Scale
Note: The Scale comprises of two scale plates ranging from 0-90° and 90-135°
0-90° Scale:
1. Remove the Guard (6)
2. Place the tool Fence face down on a flat surface
3. Loosen the Angle Locking Knob (8)
4. Check the lower arrow on the Fence aligns to 0° on the Scale
5. If the Scale does not indicate when the Fence face is flat against the surface then the Scale may
require adjustment
90-135° Scale:
1. Place the tool on a flat surface
2. Remove the Guard (6)
3. Set the Fence (5) to 90° by aligning the Scale with the upper arrow on the Fence
4. Using a set square check the angle of the Fence in correspondence to the blade housing
5. If the faces are not square, then the Scale may require adjustment
Adjusting the Scale
0-90° Scale:
1. Place the tool Fence face down on a flat surface
2. Tighten the Angle Locking Knob (8)
3. Loosen the two Scale fixing screws
4. Align the Scale with the lower arrow to 0°
5. Retighten the fixing screws
6. Carry out test cuts on a scrap piece of material to ensure the tool is calibrated correctly
90-135° Scale:
1. Place the tool upside down on a flat surface
2. Set the Adjustable Fence to 90° using an engineers' square
3. Tighten the Angle Locking Knob
4. Loosen the two upper scale fixing screws
5. Align the Scale with the upper arrow to 90°
6. Retighten the fixing screws
7. Carry out test cuts on a scrap piece of material to ensure the tool is calibrated correctly
