Step 2: Assembly
Tools needed:
1. Hex key (H&I)
2. Double open end wrench (G)
3. Adjustable wrench
Or 5/8" socket wrench
Assemble the support bar to the rack:
If your vehicle has a center mounted spare tire, Use holes 2
and 4 for assembly. If your vehicle has a side mounted
spare, use either holes 1 & 3 or 3 & 5 depending on your
vehicle. (Fig. 4A).
Next, install plastic caps J onto the main frame's tube ends.
Bolt the support bar to the main frame of the rack using
Support bolts/nuts/washers A, taking care to align the bolt,
cap and support bar. Bolt should be inserted from the front
of the rack per Fig. 4B.
Attach Rubber Straps to Bike Cradles (Fig. 5A)
Note round hole attaches to rear anchor.
Spread the cradles apart and tighten center screw with hex
wrench H (They can be adjusted later). Attach the 4 tire
bumpers to the round tubes on the main frame (one at each
corner). They will be repositioned after the rack has been
installed on the wheel to make contact with the tire(Fig. 5B).
Bolt the correct Mounting Tube to the main frame of the rack,
using bolts/nuts/washers D.
(Use the short tube & center bolt if the distance measured
between the face of the tire is between 2.75" (70mm) and
4.25" (108mm). Use the medium tube and center bolt if the
distance measured is between 4.25" (108mm) and 5.75"
(145mm). Use the longest tube and center bolt if the distance
measured is between 5.75" (145mm) and 7.25" (185 mm)
See Fig. 6
NOTE: be sure to install bolts D from the inside of the rack with
the nuts on the Cover Plate side.
Installing the mounting plate on your vehicle
Remove wheel. Install the mounting plate on your vehicle so that at least two of
the wheel holder bolts are resting on the mounting plate holes. Try using the
"preferred orientation". Per Fig. 8A & 8B. The square tube on the mounting plate
should be centered (Fig. 9). Note that different vehicles use different bolt patterns
and may require the mounting plate to be rotated 180 degrees. (Alternative
orientation). Be sure that the mounting plate sits firmly on the bolts.

Included with the rack is a self adhesive foam
pad M. Using scissors,
cut small strips and apply to rear of mounting
plate as shown in Fig. 7.
This will provide friction between mounting
plate and spare tire holder.
